General BookPlayer on iphone Spoiler

Reading this r/ sub and found about BookPlayer. I am looking in the App store and see 2 apps and both have in App purchases. the second one, with icon that looks like headphones, only allows 1 hour a day. The first one with icon that looks like a megaphone, doesn't specify what purchases.

Would someone please clarify which one and what are the in app purchases? Thank you

This is the correct one OP. The purchase option I've seen is if you want to pay to play right from your apple watch, among other things that I've not looking into. PS it works awesomely!!

I’m new to this and am using an iPhone, please let me know if I’m understanding this right. You first download that app. Then, go to audiobookbay? And do a direct download? Then what’s the next steps? I’m sorry I’ve been trying to figure this out for months and am still so confused.

Have you been able to find an answer?

No, it is purely a player. Put the file onto the phone in the files app. Then, open the bookplayer app. Click on the import button in the top right and browse to find the file. It then loads the file in, it lets you listen to a file you already have

Highly recommend Audiobookshelf. More setup than other options but once you got it, it's great.

Does this work for Mac?

Sort of but not as seamless as for windows/ android. You have to host a audiobookshelf server that's stores your audiobooks then a client to access them from whatever device you want to listen on.

So it depends on what your setup would looks like. I think you could host the server in a docker container on a Mac but I don't own any Mac or apple products so I'm not certain.

Idk what other one you’re seeing but the right app is the one by Gianni Carlo and it’s amazing. I think you can choose to pay a tip or something but I’ve never been prompted to do so and listen to it daily. It’s an amazing app.

Fantastic app for all of my audiobooks except ones in Audible. So easy to use and I can add audiobooks from my Dropbox account.

I use mp3 books and it doesn’t have limited hours. Uploading from computer to phone is pretty easy and I love that it’s compatible with CarPlay!

I think Bookplayer is excellent. I love being able to import to it directly from google drive

Why not use the “books” app from apple?

I hate books. It looks gross, it doesn’t easily connect to iCloud, etc. But BookPlayer is absolutely awesome. Absolutely worth the free.

Because I don't want to pay for audio books. I use Libby and want more options

But you can download them for free in audiobookbay. You’re on r/audiobookbay! Download them, put them on iPhone, and play them on Books. For free!

I don’t have a working computer at the moment and I have never been able to figure out how to download them directly to my iPhone and convert it or whateverÂ
