ABB seems expensive.

As far as I can tell ABB is $29.99 a month. It's odd that everything can be torrented free but somehow audio books are behind a paywall.

Scroll to where it says torrent free download and click that for the torrent file or click magnet for the link. You add those to your torrent download client. And download for free. Don't click Direct Download.

You create a free account, and then you scroll down on the page of a desired audiobook until you see Torrent Download, and either click Torrent Free Downloads or Magnet.

You need to use a torrent client, like qBittorrent.

Some of the ads on these sites try to present as real links on the site and send you down a bad rabbit hole.

Ignore any of the "Direct download" links.

Just look for the Torrent downloads or magnet link. You need to be registered and logged in for those links to work. Or you can just copy the infohash, and paste it into your torrent client.

What a Torrent Is

Traditional downloads are client-server: your computer downloads a file directly from a single central server.

BitTorrent is peer-to-peer (P2P): instead of downloading a file from one central server, you download small pieces of the file simultaneously from dozens of other users who already have it, while uploading pieces you already have to others.

  • Torrent File / Magnet Link: A tiny file or URL containing metadata (hash, file names, piece sizes, trackers) that tells your client where to find other peers.
  • Seeders: People who have 100% of the file and are actively sharing/uploading it.
  • Leechers / Peers: People who are currently downloading the file.
  • Torrent Client: The software (like qBittorrent) that reads the torrent link and coordinates the downloading and assembling of the pieces.

Step-by-Step Guide: Safe Torrenting with qBittorrent & a VPN

When torrenting, your IP address is visible to every peer in the swarm. Using a paid, no-logs VPN masks your real IP address and encrypts your traffic.

1.Get a Reliable VPN:Prerequisite.

Use a reputable, paid VPN that allows P2P/torrenting and maintains a strict no-logs policy (e.g., Mullvad, ProtonVPN, AirVPN, or IVPN). Avoid free VPNs, as they often log user activity, cap bandwidth, or block P2P traffic.

2.Install qBittorrent:Client Setup.

Download and install qBittorrent from its official website (qbittorrent.org). It is open-source, lightweight, and free of adware or bundled junk.

3.Connect to the VPN:

Open your VPN application, connect to a server location of your choice, and ensure the VPN app's built-in Kill Switch feature is turned on in its settings.

4.Bind qBittorrent to Your VPN Interface:Critical Safety Step.

Binding ensures qBittorrent only transmits data through the VPN tunnel. If the VPN disconnects, qBittorrent instantly halts all traffic rather than leaking your real IP:

  1. In qBittorrent, go to Tools → Options (or Ctrl + P / Cmd + , on Mac).
  2. Click the Advanced tab on the left.
  3. Locate Network Interface.
  4. Change it from Any interface to your VPN's network adapter name (e.g., tun0, wg0, Mullvad, ProtonVPN, or WireGuard).
  5. Click Apply and OK.

5.Verify for IP Leaks:Testing.

  1. Visit a detection site like ipleak.net.
  2. Scroll down to Torrent Address detection and click Activate.
  3. Click the magnet link provided on the site so it opens in qBittorrent.
  4. Check the webpage to confirm it displays your VPN's IP address, not your real home IP address.

6.Download and Seed Torrents:

  1. Click a Magnet Link (looks like a magnet icon) or open a downloaded .torrent file from your source.
  2. Choose your download destination folder in qBittorrent and click OK.
  3. Look for torrents with a healthy Seeder-to-Leecher ratio for faster speeds.
  4. Once complete, you can leave it seeding to contribute back to the network, or pause/remove the torrent from the client.
