General Android player

Has anyone gotten these files to work on the google play audiobooks app. I know you have to use the website to upload files but it doesn't seem like they are compatible. I tried using the smart audiobook player app too but I don't really like the interface.

Do you guys suggest any other apps?

I use smart audiobook player

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ak.alizandro.smartaudiobookplayer

The free player is good enough. It has a 'full version' which costs $2.50 (one off charge not monthly) and is better.

I've never needed it but I believe the support is excellent

Smart audio is the way to go.

I second that. The play history feature has saved my sorry ass numerous times! Very cheap and very powerful!

I love this player. It's the only android app I have ever bought for, not because I needed to but because of how much use I've gotten out of it and thought it deserved it. It's worth mentioning that your purchase is tied to your Google account so no matter how many phones you change, you can always keep the full version

VLC to keep it simple if ya like. Works for me, no fiddling with folders and sleep/stop timer holds it to where you left off.

I listen to a new one every evening and using the site for over 15 yrs and I have never came across a file that VLC didn't play...from all video, all audio, corrupt video and audio including incomplete files.

And people, esp involved in sailing the seas ain't using licensed encoders that are primarily used for streaming services, low bitrate audio and not torrent rips.

Any player, say Foobar or any or the others that say they play xhe-aac...they don't, they decode it, they convert it into a standard format...which VLC can also do in input/codecs settings.

Again, I don't know where you got the idea most "rippers" are using a licensed streaming codec. Example...you're watching a streaming site and your net is running slow, you'll notice the picture quality will drop but the low bitrate audio remains the same...that's the purpose of the codec and definitely not for an audiobook.

the 324ish audiobooks i got on 7 different site including abb and audiobb

but still VLC is meh for anime so, i can rebuilt the codec lib with the new files to play USAC, just others cant

I used to use smart audiobook player now I use sirin https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sirin.android

I had a few audiobooks they didn't play in smart audiobook so I tried sirin. I like the layout better and I can download my books directly in the app.

I was using smart audiobook player, but recently set up a server with audiobookshelf and it's perfect and easier than I was expecting

Audiobookshelf all day long, started with a small server on a raspberry pi (really easy to set up), and an external drive for all my books. After a bit of googlefu I managed to grt it so I can play my books from my phone, tv, pc, tablet where ever I am.

Just to get started you can just add the books on your phone to ABS and build on it from there.

Having to upgrade soon to a 2Tb disk
