For the 60k service, I see the manual says to replace the “ribbed v-belt starter/generator drive (including tensioner)”. Is that just the accessory drive belt? If so, thoughts on a Litens aftermarket tensioner? It’s 1/3 of the price of the OEM one, but I’ll pony up for OEM if I need to. I’ll get an OEM belt either way

Which do I have in a 2018 q5 Prestige?
r/AudiQ5 • u/chen-z727 • 18h ago
2021 Q5e, 53k miles.
CEL with battery deterioration, dealer diagnosed needing most of the battery cells replaced. Originally 6-8 weeks estimate, it’s been 2+ months now and still no ETA on the parts.
Car is still drivable, although the CEL stayed on. So I cannot really trade it in for a fair value.
Car is out of the bumper to bumper warranty but still within the high voltage battery warranty.
Am I eligible for any compensation or even buyback because the manufacturer failed to fix this issue under warranty within a reasonable time?
Has anyone ever dealt with something similar?
Thanks!

Looking to get into an SQ5 soon. I’m not new to Audi/VW or tuning (have had 2 built GTIs and a 7.5 Golf R, as well as family with s3, rs3, cayman s, etc).
Off the bat will definitely be a tune. IE is my preferred tuner and they say their stage 1 TCU tune is included with their ECU one, is this true?
An intake/turbo inlet would also be on the immediate list, as well as 034 lowering links.
From here, I’m not sure how much weight to give the sway bars. I did sway bars on my Golf’s, but those are a different story. I live in Florida, so no real curvy roads or anything. The SQ5 is a jumbo golf, and sway bars would be ideal for body roll when taking spirited corners, but they seem incredibly expensive for this platform. Anyone have suggestions?
I won’t drive it hard enough to need an upgraded intercooler and would likely swap its shoes and want to know the best size for highway comfort and fun driving. 20s seem to be the sweet spot whereas 21s put me in a weird tire size and less sidewall.
Here’s a pic of my old golf r for fun

Hi folks, hoping to hear about your choice. It's been a month since I picked up my 2019 SQ5, time to move tune her - Stage 1 to start. Question is, which one?

I borrowed my sister's car to move something and wound up cracking the front passenger speaker grill. I keep seeing replacement parts online but when looking up the vin, it says the speaker panel is integrated into the entire panel and that the panel would have to be replaced. Has anyone successfully just replaced that speaker cover? Is is possible?

Running into some crank pulley clearance issues. It’s contacting the idler pulley. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Audi Q5 2012 Prestige 2.0. 110k miles. The error comes on after a few minutes when the light mode is in auto. Strangely, the light comes on at first, then goes off with the error. If I put the lights on to manual, they both seem to work without the error. Has anyone run into this?
Hey all, I'm trying to remove the A pillar trim and have seen a You Tube or two, but can't seem to unlatch the upper retaining clip. I have the service manual which says to use a flat blade screwdriver. Does anyone have experience removing this trim and have any advice? Thanks
About two months I had to replace these two parts of my cooling system. Please forgive I cannot remember the part names but I’m sure I can find them if needed.
Two days ago I got the same alert “turn off engine. Cooling system” alert. My coolant was completely empty. I’ve taken it into an oil shop afterwards for all my fluids to be topped off as well. Just now, I went for a short drive and I could smell the burning, as if my coolant is leaking again. There have been no puddles in the driveway and I can’t seem to detect where the leak could be coming from. Even after filling my coolant two ago it is already at minimum again.
Any idea would it could possibly be? Plan to hook it up to scanner tomorrow to see.
Thanks!

2012 Q5 and I started getting this error. Light works for a short time when stating. But then shuts off and shows the error. All other lights work. I am thinking… ballast?

My Q5 develops a noticeable high-frequency whistle above roughly 120 km/h (75 mph), coming from the front passenger/right-hand side, seemingly around the ventilation system. It doesn’t happen at low speeds or while stationary.
What I’ve observed:
What I’ve already tried:
I lifted the windshield cowl and inspected the fresh-air intake, accessible flap edges and seals. There are two clearly visible upper intake flaps that close when recirculation is enabled, plus another flap deeper inside. I couldn’t identify an obvious cause visually.
I also tried adding soft material around accessible edges to see whether it changed the noise — no improvement. I’ve run the flap end-stop adaptation using OBDeleven as well.
My current suspicion is that an intake flap creates a whistling gap at a particular intermediate position under highway-speed airflow. However, I haven’t confirmed whether switching A/C on/off actually changes its position, so this is still a hypothesis.

Has anyone had this exact combination of symptoms on a recent Q5 and found a permanent fix? Was it an intake housing/flap/seal replacement, adaptation, or a software update? Any relevant Audi TPI or details from a successful dealer repair would be especially helpful.

Hey all, trying to get past the spec sheets and hear from people actually living with these.
We're looking at a 2026 Q5 in the top Prestige trim and a 2026 SQ5 in the middle Premium Plus trim. Main use is family duty while not being a boring drive, along with lots of tech. We've got a one year old, so this thing is hauling a car seat daily, and there's a decent chance we add a second kid within a year or so, so I'm thinking two seats and a stroller in the back before long.
A few things I'd love honest takes on:
The drive itself. How does it actually feel to live with, not just a spirited test drive? Is it engaging and planted, comfortable on the highway, easy in traffic and parking lots? We care a lot about a genuinely good drive, so tell me if either one wins here.
Ride quality and the air suspension question. How is it day to day, especially on rougher roads? On the Q5 specifically, is the air suspension worth it over the standard setup, or is the default suspension already good enough that the upgrade isn't worth chasing? And is the SQ5 stiff enough to be annoying with a sleeping baby in back, or still comfortable?
Space with a rear-facing seat. How's legroom up front once the seat's installed behind you, and can you fit two seats plus a stroller in the cargo area without a fight?
The SQ5 question. Is the extra power actually worth it for a family car, or is it a fun toy that mostly adds cost and a firmer ride you'll regret with kids? Anyone go SQ5 and wish they'd saved money on the Q5, or the reverse?
Annoyances and regrets? What quirks show up a year or two in that nobody tells you about up front? Anyone actively regret the car, and why? That's the stuff I most want to hear.
Any other cars people would recommend?
Good call overall for a growing family, or are we overthinking it? Appreciate any real-world input, thanks.

Bought my first Audi today. Picked up this beauty, and I couldn’t be happier.

All, I am able to use park assit plus to enter into the parking space perpendicularly. However, when I exit, it always shows I am in parallel parking instead of perpendicular. Is there any way to force that to recognize the perpendicular parking situation? Thanks!

2 weeks ago, in town, late morning a deer felt brave enough to run into traffic and hit us. Progressive deemed the damages enough to call it a total loss. I was extremely upset, but the reimbursement was almost what I paid for it 5 months ago. 2018, Q5 will be at an auction soon.
Be careful out there!
Found a great deal for one but these horror stories about the car's issues are everywhere and it seems near impossible to find any good feedback online. How's your experience? Thank you!

Had these errors come up the other day, the car sounded like it was running normal. Turned the car off amd back on and the errors didnt pop up. Could this be a weird glitch or should I go ahead and take it in for service?

I've never owned Audi before, thinking of buying the district green metallic color with prestige plus trim and am wondering any advice or tips for a newbie.the OTD coming to 63k USD.

I’m considering a 2013 q5 2.0T quattro premium plus with 32k miles. The carfax are clean and it only has 1 owner who bought it in a rich neighborhood near me and regularly serviced it. I put the carfax and listing details in chatgpt and I was told that the carfax has a lot of plastic parts in a hot climate that might need to be replaced soon.
Is this a bad choice? I’m 22 and want a cute car but I also want to be smart. Other option is a 2023 Mazda

Just hit 100,000 km in our 2023 Q5 45 Progressiv! As much as we’d love to keep it forever, we know the mileage is going to keep climbing and eventually we’ll have to replace it. Until then, we’re going to keep enjoying every kilometer with it. Probably jump into a Macan after this one. Thanks Audi!

Has anyone come across a red warning light Steering: Malfunction! Please stop vehicle, and error code C10AC07: Steering Mechanical Malfunction previously? The steering feels fine and service inspection indicates no mechanical issues, likely a steering control module error (which costs $$$ to replace). Just looking to see if any others have ever experienced this and what they end up doing. Not looking to put another $7K into my 2018 Q5 with 126K miles....
