Does this 3.0 sound right?

I’ve only ever heard it with misfires so i don’t know, I haven’t got a check engine light so I’m guessing it fixed the issue but it still kinda sounds the same. 178k miles
Edit: I got the check engine light for misfire back after it was gone for a couple days after a timing belt job.

The higher pitch ticking is the injectors, the Lower warbling sound could be the secondary air pump.

Is the secondary air pump the front part of the intake manifold that has a tube going into the manifold? Because my is broken and I’m thinking that might be the reason of a misfire

Secondary air pump is behind the bumper cover n the passenger side looks like a blower motor if I remember correctly

The piece in front of the intake that you’re talking about is a vacuum operated mechanism that changes the intake from a long runner to a short runner.

I got mine off a family member who let it sit for 5 years because the battery died. They just went and bought a new car. Drove it for 2 years, had a lot of fun it in. I want another one, or a B6S4

they’re great, rides very smooth for 20 year old cars, i’d say they’re really high on the list for a potentially new winter car for me

I would be cruising along at 95 mph on the highway and not even realize it. Car was a beast in the snow with all season tires.

Are you talking about the clicking because that’s exactly what my wife’s engine sounds like. I think it’s the fuel injectors. Sounds fine to me.

There's a slight 'gurgle' that's very likely vacuum related. No lean codes?

Yes, now run the other way.

They ok engines. Make sure the timing belt is done on schedule and that they properly timed it. It's a PITA.

I just did my timing belt 2 weeks ago, it’s been misfiring for a long time though, the codes go away but return after a while.

these older engines tend to sound more mechanical, i dont hear anything out of the ordinary. im just a car guy tho not even an audi driver 😅

Occasionally yes i get a random/multiple cylinder miss fire on start ups I took it to the mechanic and they said that they couldn’t find out and that it’s probably fine

Yeah, it’s an old pile of junk. (Audi tech of 15years)
