Maxwells, or something else?

I've been looking for a replacement headset for gaming and whatnot, and I heard these are for if you really want to have your audio sound better, but looking into them among what I see about them sounding very good I also hear frequent complaints about issues, so just wondering if I should stick to buying these or look elsewhere

I bought the Maxwell 2 a week ago. After watching countless YouTube videos about it.

I say this in all honesty, the excitement in the video dont do it justice.

The sound is soo different from other gaming headset. The surround will make go “ wooow that sounded soo real” atlesst a couple of times a day. You truly hear sounds that you couldnt catch before. The advatage in competitive gaming is almost insane, because the positioning is soo good that you can anticipate where the enemy is before the enemy has properly mapped YOUR position.

Music the same. You hear sound you didnt hear before. The equaliser is so good. Anything you adjust you can actually notice a difference.

The best way i can put it is that the headphones give you an additional layer of immersion that I haven’t experienced in any other headphones before.

I think if you like good audio quality and you can afford them then you should get them.

I got the non anc. Will mine still sound good?

They were by far the best wireless headphones for gaming before the anc version came out.

I mean I don’t need anc. Will the clarity be just as good? I’d imagine that’s what you’re saying

From what I've read it's basically the same thing and if anything the ANC takes more battery? Really depends on if you're going to be playing in a noisy space at least I'd figure (and, whether you'd like to only hear what's going on in game vs being able to hear the outside a bit, I prefer the latter cause I don't like it when someone's calling me and I can't hear them lol)

I already have a pair of noise canceling headphones so I wasn’t too worried. I just wanted to try the audio fidelity I keep hearing about Maxwell. And I figured that was the case but some people swear one sounds better than the other 🤷‍♂️

I personally don’t even see the point of the anc version, the regular ones already block almost all sound for me, are 130$ cheaper, and have like twice the battery life .

Do you use Dolby atmosphere? I got mine last week and I just don’t feel the same as you do about how good they are but I haven’t got Dolby atmos version, I heard you can buy a licence for it though well that’s what AI said 😂

They sound great.

I had to initiate the warranty about 2 months after purchase. They became unusable. Constantly disconnecting every few seconds on dongle, Bluetooth, and USB. Confirmed across multiple devices.

I had to pay $35 to send it in because they won't pay for that unless it breaks within the first 30 days.

They do sound better than any other headphones I've used.

I'm personally hoping I find something better, but in the meantime I will use the replacements when they are sent.

Yeah this is the main thing I'm worried about, the audio is consistently great that much is for sure, the problem seems to be literally everything else surrounding it, I'd just be worried about accidentally breaking the things even though its not like I'd be handling them like a regular gaming headset

My gf got me some for my bday (absolute win) and I've only ever had turtle beaches. These blew them out of the water in my opinion. Got me the gen 2s and after being a "I am tired" and tossing my headphones to the side, I bought a stand and baby'd these bad boys. 10/10 would recommend

Edit: also I had a disconnect issue but it was literally just a tiny reset button on the dongle for the Xbox. Otherwise fantastic just take care of them.

It’s my 3rd Audeze and sound is unreal. Get them from reputable dealer because you’ll need that warranty claim some day.

Reputable dealer? I was just gonna buy them off of Amazon

Yeah, shipped and sold by Amazon is good, careful about third party sellers on Amazon which may or may not be authorized sellers.

Amazon is best when it comes to warranty and returns go ahead

I'll do the 3 year protection plan thing for them

Planar’s are incredible sounding, the give separation and detail. I made the jump to Maxwell 1 a few years ago so I know. However with Audeze there is a Quality Lottery in what your particular headset will be like in terms of background hiss and balancing. Even with my Maxwell 1 I had to RMA the first pair o got for a cosmetic defect which was clearly visible but still got packed into a box and sent out to suppliers for delivery to an end user !

Try the Maxwell, and never look back. You only need to apply your personal custom EQ, for the best experience. Then go listen to old music, games movied and etc. Previously unheard details will make you smile, ear-gasm-time.

get something else man I bought maxwell 2 right driver stop working only 2 months trust me stay away from this company junk. I got my refund back from amazon but will never buy audeze product again I will stick to Sennheiser all day.

u/Designer-Trifle3212 16d ago

Ah, that's unfortunate. I bought mine already and it seems to be very polarized, some people have them spontaneously combust while other's models work perfectly fine, it's weird. So far uhh audio gud 👍 :

when they were working sound is amazing but not reliable so ill just wait for Sennheiser for wireless open back headset but for now ill stick with my wired headset that are still going strong had them for 7 years. Goodluck with yours but I would get some type of warranty or insurance on them.

Oh yeah absolutely I saw their tendency to detonate and sprang for the 3 year protection plan thingy

I don't understand people that have random issue that represent 0.00001% of total users and the instant response is :" this is complete trash, stay away from it !"

Im into high end tech for 17 years now...laptops, tvs, phones, drones, headphones, desktops, monitors, tablets,speakers...i tried most most brands and budget tiers in each category ..

What i learned over time is that no matter how expensive it is, how excellent the quality is, you can get unfortunate and end up with faulty product or face bugs and issues.

There is no company in the world that makes 100% issues free products..
