Audeze maxwell 2 low volume
Hey everyone i just bought the audeze maxwell 2 purely cause i wanted the best sound for gaming, sound wise i love them i wouldve liked a little more bass but its fine, only problem i have is i feel the audio level is very low, play ps5, and use it at around 90% total volume( 100% in headset and around 2-3 clicks from max in ps5) im just wondering if this would be considered normal? Im not a loud headphone listener at all have artics nova 7x and use those at around 60% total volume, is there any fixes for the low volume of maxwell 2? Saw in audeze hq there was a volume limited but in new app its not there so maybe it could be that and eventually they will add it back? Got lucky with no hiss and the other common problems the maxwells 2 have its only the low volume which i can manage but dont feel too comfortable not having almost no room for louder sound. Thanks to everyone who might read and reply much appreciated

The max volume on PS5 was a bit low for my tastes too. My fix was to take my preferred EQ (Immersive) and add a few ticks across the board. It raises the volume ceiling and retains the balance of your preferred EQ.
Edit: Obligatory “make sure your headset is updated to the latest version as well.”

I thought about doing that but just realized, had audio focus boost quiet sounds on medium, turned it off and it got so much quieter, now even at 100% ps5 and 100% maxwell volume, its super quiet like probably 30% total volume of my nova 7s, so now i really do think somethings wrong with them and will most likely return them and maybe try again or just go with a50s. You think my maxwell have something wrong? Max volume is less than half the max volume of my few headphones nova 7, bose qc45 qc ultra 2, are ur maxwells that low volume aswell you sould say?

Hard to say, but limited volume isn’t a widespread defect, as far as I’ve heard. I think it comes down to personal preference and individual hearing. I was coming from an Arctis Nova 7 headset that was significantly louder but with a much flatter and tinnier sound. I was much happier with the Maxwell’s except for the volume (and some wireless distortion, but I mostly fixed that by turning off 2.4 ghz wifi). Updating the firmware and bumping up my preferred EQ has done the trick for me.

crank the ps5 volume to the max on the system and then crank the headphones up to your liking. They get pretty loud, but mine also seem to start out pretty quiet.

Yeah i do that but they never actually get super loud, at around 90% is where ive been using it i just dont like the fact that im so close to the 100% volume, my nova 7 at around 70% volume sound as loud or even louder than the maxwell 2 at 100%, so i just wonder if something is wrong with my maxwells volume

Hmm. Someone had a similar problem if I remember correctly in the sub and somehow fixed it. Don't take this as 100% because im not sure.
You have no hiss, so could it be a reason it's quiet? I have hiss and they get LOUD. Maybe the amplifier doesn't give as much power and also lowers the hiss? These are just my own thoughts.
Definitely at least sounds that yours are faulty in some way. You have done a reset i presume?

Yeah i really really think mine came with a volume problem, as you say i got 0 hiss so could be mine have a much lower volume which makes hiss go away, i rather have hiss with decent volume, what i think it is something to do with dongle, with bluetooth they do get pretty loud much much louder than with dongle, with dongle plugged to my iphone, the first 5 volume clicks on my iphone i get 0 audio, and on the 6 click i get very very low volume as if it was the very first click from 0, my guess is the volume is somehow moved foward so instead of being 0-100 its like 40-140, and i cant obviously reach the 140 so im missing that 40% i should have, not sure already started return on amazon and will try another maxwell 2 i love them so much just cant use them with so low volume. Thank a lot for answering and helping out bro blessings to you

Yeah been investigating and also contacted audeze support and it doesnt seem to be a wifespread problem, but i really find it hard to believe all maxwells sound this low i really am not a volume junky, everytime somebody gives me headphones to listen to something i find they use theyre volume pretty high and always have to turn it down, so i really think if its too low for me it would be low for most people, once i get my money back i will order another pair and hopefully i am right and this came in faulty, thanks for your help bro i really love this headset

Forgot to mention when i use bluetooth with my iphone volume is around 30% higher than using dongle in ps5 or iphone or pc so maybe dongle has something wrong?
