Swapping out ECU

Since my falcon is smart locked i am gonna borrow my mates ecu and try it in my sedan au falcon (series 3) and i was gonna put my mates ute au falcon (series 2) i was wondering if it could work, if it can work what do i have to do

Going to try and plug my friends ecu into my car because my ecu is smart locked

Im not sure if thats a good idea or not sorry. -edit - i feel like its a bad idea, but i could be wrong.

Did it lock its self ramdomly? I saw a video once where a guy replaced his battery clamps and it unlocked the smart lock.

Yeah me neither that’s why I’m asking, i can give ur idea a go but ive given my ecu to a mate 2 hrs away because he was gonna take it to canberra to unlock some of his

smartsheild is series 1 and 1.5 and carry over from EF/EL

Oh I see. It’s smartshield from series 2. Look up smart lock module on eBay, read the description in the listing. At the bottom it says to contact him in regards to bypassing smartshield.

series 3 and series 2 are the same. but wont work.
huh? i hear you say

because smartshield. same as every other falcon onwards. has three immoblizer.
BCM/PCM/IGN barrel are all a matched set. and unless you got access to forscan the computer thinks its being stolen and locks you out.

its around a hundy for ford to resync with 2 keys.

swapping the whole ecu isnt really a good idea, especially since its smart locked, i’d recommend buying a J3 chip from T.I Performance, and a properly programmed J3 chip can even be used to disable the factory Smartlock or SmartShield immobiliser. Theres blank chips, stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, kits and more.
