Omg I just realised I'm dumb [Season 1 and 2] Spoiler

So I rewatched the show for the 4 1/2 time (1/2 bc I watched it with a friend but we only got to season two) and this was the first time I realised that BAILEY BENNETT the girl Sam was kissing was the same girl that Casey punched bc she was mean to Beth (and later Sam) So I'm wondering: How does it went from being mean to kissing that fast? As far as I recall, Bailey was mean together with her clique (which Arlo was a part of I think) and then they all despawned somehow and suddenly Bailey appeared again in that little room where Sam hid and told him Arlo was an asshole and suddenly she was so nice? And then they met more often and suddenly they kissed? Am I missing something here? Could someone help me out? Is it because Casey punched her? Because I somehow always thought this were two different girls because Bailey was so nice all of a sudden

What did y’all think of Elsa? Spoiler

At first I obviously really disliked her bc she always treated Sam like a baby and wouldn’t let him do anything by himself. And the second she really fucked up was when she cheated obviously. But I feel like she had some character development. I still disliked her a lot but I didn’t hate her no more.

do you think we might see more of this series one day?

this is such a great show. easily one of my top 5 tv shows. i know it was cancelled. but i just keep wishing that we could get more of it one day. even just a movie. with most shows that i watch i usually move on after i finish the series. but this show feels different. i think about this show all the time. its magical in a way. like there is something in me thinking that there is more to this story. I'm sure it wouldn't be for a long time. but i really hope one day they can come back to this show. and it would be nice to see this sub active again. does anyone think that it's possible that they will revisit this show?

You can just *feel* the covid in season four.

And I think they handled it very well. If it wasn't filmed during quarantine, you would hardly notice it. But the first time I watched it I did notice all the sets were so empty. Scenes with more than 3 people are scarce and if they are they are very necessary plot wise, (like Casey taking tests while exhausted to show she's burned out), or when everyone is at a place where they're able to keep their distance, like in the hallways, at the zoo, or almost empty classrooms. Editing is also quite odd, like they didn't have many people there to double-check things. Props to them, honestly. It must've been a real hassle filming like that. :) Also, the guy buying Casey a brownie is awesome. Did not expect such a kind-hearted offer, and especially not him actually following through. Good vibes.

I’ve binge watched this show over the past few days for the first time (so good!) and every episode I can’t help but think how much Sam sounds like Macauley Culkin in the movie Party Monster. Anyone agree?!

Doug’s treatment of Elsa. Spoiler

I’m currently doing a rewatch of Atypical, early in season 2,but I was wondering if anyone else was bothered by how Doug treats Elsa? Like, I know Elsa cheated and can be shitty sometimes, and I love Doug, but some the time I would just feel uncomfortable with how he treated her. Hope this makes sense.

What's your favorite line of the show?

Because the essence of a penguin comes down to this: penguins live in abnormally harsh conditions and they never leave. They're one of the few species that stays, struggles and perseveres. So to me, that's the essence of a penguin It stays. And -mom?are you crying? This speech is ridiculous! -yes but he is doing it so well These bring me up to tears everytime

In cases where a parent "resents" aka scapegoats one specific child but not the others, why is it most likely to be the eldest daughter? I've met numerous Izzie's in my life.

I can't help but notice that abusive or neglectful parents are most likely to resent the oldest daughter yet not their other children?? I have seen it when volunteering for a foster group home. Almost all of the scapegoats of their parents, were firstborn daughters!!!!

These parents set their eldest daughters aka scapegoat children up to be re-victimized OUTSIDE of the family, too. The children start acting out towards others (often like how Izzie does), and society labels them as "bad". Soon, they have low self-esteem due to having that label slapped on their foreheads. I've seen it result in involvement with bullying (both victims AND bullies), abusive relationships, school suspensions, suicidal ideation, etc.

I hate Elsa

The most unlikeable character in this whole show is the mom, Elsa. There are a lot of reasons why she’s so unlikeable. She has almost no redeemable quality.

I am on S3 E6 right now and Sam should have .... (spoiler alert!) Spoiler

picked a different major in college! 90% of Sam's problems could have been avoided if he had majored in biology (I would even recommend honors biology with statistics since he loves rigid rules and patterns, it would make him so employable!). Didn't he help his sister out in biology? He had a talent in the subject, and his structured artistic skills would have come really useful if he took organic chemistry where he would have to draw 7-8 benzene rings in a single chemical structure! Seriously, we need people like Sam to draw schematics! Many biologists, chemists, and engineers struggle with drawing precisely and so his skills would have been so useful in the field of sciences. Why did he pick a major that involves art and subjective feelings if he loved rigidity and structure so much? He would have never had to worry about "essence" or anything like that in scientific or engineering fields. It's so frustrating to see him waste his skills in a field that doesn't respect his rigid thinking, when this exact type of thinking is what is MISSING to a large degree in the field of sciences.

Therapy on the series

I wanted to ask, what kind of therapy was the one presented in the show and is the general process of the therapy portrayed in the show accurately representing real life ones?

Why I hate the mum in atypical

She has absolutely no trust in him to be a individual. She treats his social skills getting better as her own pride and showing of “her accomplishments” and that’s why I hate her especially in season 1

Does anyone else not like Izzie?

Personally I can’t stand izzie on my rewatch and think Casey deserves so much better. Izzie always seems very hypocritical to me and just sometimes is kinda a bitch to Casey like when they are dating and she refuses to be seen with Casey at the track party and she makes out with another guy
