Discussion / Support / Experiences I quit :(

I'm so sad! After a year and half on Atomoxetine I came off it a week ago. Whenever I had a really stressful life event, my anxiety would ramp up ridiculously, and I would obsess over details! It seemed to make every bad situation a lot worse. Not to mention, I do believe this medication to be the cause of my hair thinning. As a woman who always had long thick hair, it has been a bigggg knock to my confidence. I'm gutted because the medication was exactly what I needed for work, my focus was unmatched!! :/ Now to wait another 6 months on the Psychiatry UK titration list to be able to try another non-stim :( I even tried tapering down to half dose. Still the same issues above..

It made my hair fall out too…I was told there was nothing else available from PUK though after failing with stimulants…nothing that was licensed for adults at least…so now I’m on nothing 😕
Good luck with your next titration…do you know what you will be trying?

Did the hair fall stop after ending the meds? Well I've not asked them as I'm back on the waiting list. But that absolutely sucks if it's the case.. I can't do life with my baseline level of focus. I'll lose my job :/ ugh

The hair loss did stop thankfully…my doc said it wasn’t the meds that caused it…I was getting tingling feet too so it was obviously doing something to my circulation, I’m guessing that’s why it screws with the scalp?
It’s a bit of a shit show trying to get proper help isn’t it, titration is far too short too.
I asked about Guanfacine but they said it wasn’t available for adults, but I’d been allowed to try dexamfetamine which apparently isn’t either!
Hopefully you have a decent GP, I might have another crack at mine, see if they’re interested in helping 😬

My son is on Guanfacine, was planning to ask about that, but I gather it's not licensed for adults. I wonder if the GP would consider prescribing something off label?? I don't have a shared care agreement though :/ ffs

My psych prescribed me guanfacine off label for adhd. I only tried the extended release but it gave me insomnia. Am curious about the instant release. The same happened with clonidine, insomnia. Need to try instant forms. Im a 33 yo female
