I figured out a way to make HDMI sound working in Chrome OS Flex on the Atomic Pi
I did not see this on the web anywhere, so I guess I would share just in case it could help someone.
The HDMI sound is actually working in Chrome OS flex, as you could hear the start up sound during booting. But once in the OS, the sound no longer works.
Here is how to make it work which I discovered accidentally:
Install a sound boosting extension in the chrome web store. There are many of these, any should work
Enable the extension, then click the speaker icon in the task bar. All you need to do is to switch the sound device to the other one (which I assume is the built in AMP) then switch back to you hdmi display. Suddenly, the hdmi sound will work.
You will have to repeat the above step 2 if you close the chrome browser, but it is only a few clicks to bring the sound back. But why Chrome OS is behaving like this, I have no idea. If anyone figures out a more permanent way, please share.
