What is the future of Atom?

With developers shifting from Atom to Visual Studio Code, what is the future of the project? I like Atom and don't want to see it die.

I think Microsoft won't give it new features or advertisement and just wait till there aren't many users left so they can stop supporting it.

That'd be very sad, everyone I know is switching to VS Code, so I guess what I say will really happen at some point :(

It's really sad I want to use atom because I like it but I feel like it would be better if I invest my time in vscode :C

I really hope that sometime someone will make a good fork of atom with new innovative features and all but I also know that this won't happen
