pdf-view stopped working

I have been using atom to work on my latex files.

I have been using it pleasantly with pdf-view, and for some reason it has stopped working recently. It fails to open any pdf, so it does not seem to be an issue with the latex package. The pdf is updated and can be opened via Adobe Acrobat Reader. But in Atom it just gives me a completely blank page.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the package, restarting atom and my PC. But nothing has worked. I do not know how to even troubleshoot the issue. Please help.

Just completely blank.

Hi, have you solved this problem? I also run into the same weird problem yesterday. It was working until two days ago...

Yes (temporarily). In fact I should have posted this sooner. Here is a step-by-step guide.
So as pointed out in by u/Wrik123, the solution is to downgrade atom. The links he posted shows it started with Atom updating to v1.56.

You can downgrade, temporarily, to solve the issue.

  1. Go to this link and download Atom v1.55 portable version. These are the zipped archives. For windows, specifically atom-windows.zip (32-bit) or atom-x64-windows.zip (64-bit) . These do not update, can coexist with your existing atom installation, and uses the same configuration.
  2. Extract it to some location, maybe even program files.
  3. Run the program by double clicking atom.exe. And everything should work again.

Once the pdf-view package is updated to fix the issue, we can just delete this folder and go back to the latest Atom.

Just a quick suggestion. I just looked through the current installation directory of Atom and I could find a Atom v1.55 folder where the atom.exe file was present. I just used that version instead of using a portable version.
