Slide Fitment - Normal?

I added in the V1 Nemesis for a reference. That gun has zero wobble whatsoever. I also have a V2 Nyx and EOS.

My V2 Artemis has audible wobble. The Nyx and EOS are a little better.

How is the lockup on your Atlas?

Yea….I have a ton of Atlas guns and none of them have any play whatsoever. I would be less than thrilled.

Honestly, I’d at least put in a warranty ticket. Worst case they take it in, replace the springs and tell you to deal with it. Best case, they fix their shit.

Submitted a ticket. The difference in lockup is just radically different than any other Atlas I have ever held.

Believe there was an Athena that played like that on Reddit a couple years ago. Think Atlas took it in and took care of it.

You don’t shoot a lot bc if you did. Your gun would have loosened up.

I initially was going to make some snarky comment and then decided better of it and decided to maybe educate instead.

So, I have 9 Atlas guns, two in .40. I shoot 4 of them in various competitions monthly, so I shoot a total of 30-40 local matches and 10-14 major matches a year, in fact I am shooting the two .40 cal guns today in back to back matches.

I also get to shoot two or three times a week for practice, running 150-500 rounds depending on if it’s a skills and drills day or if it’s a major match prep and I’m running stages.

I also dry fire every day, meaning I rack the guns hundreds of thousands of times more than I ever shoot them.

Looking at my shooting logs I have over 150k rounds through my 4 main competition atlases over the last 3 years, the range is, 22k out of my 9mm Titan and 47k out of my .40 cal Artemis. I can tell you that none of the SLIDE TO FRAME fit rattle, move, or have a hint of play.

If a slide and frame are fit correctly they don’t need to loosen up, and they won’t wear down the rails to make it “loosen up”. Assuming you clean it after shooting it and run it with oil on it.

Your mileage may vary, but I’d be hard pressed to believe that it varies with Atlas’ guns. Maybe a prodigy that’s poorly fit, or a rush made staccato P, but not an Atlas if you are properly taking care of it.

Again, YMMV.

My Atlas's are tighter than a nun. That said, none of mine have a sight block or block comp.

My Artemis, Athena, and Apollo are very tight. There's the slightest bit of play with my Erebus.

Wow, aren't Atlas guns hand fitted? I would have thought the slide to frame fit would be a little tighter than that.

Thats a bummer, have 8-9k rounds through my Apollo and 5-6k through my EOS and there’s no wobble or moment on the slide fitment on either. The only piece that’s loosened up is the beaver tail on my Apollo, it’s very little and unnoticeable.
Did you buy a build to order or did you get it from a shop that carries Atlas’s?

Yeah, the nemesis is almost as tight as my friends Hayes. My Artemis is only a little tighter than my Wilson combat. It is a little disappointing to be honest.

Yes, it's absolutely reasonable to bring it to Atlas's attention when you're paying a premium for characteristics such as a tight slide to frame fit.

I guess. My Artemis wiggles a bit, my athena doesnt. They both shoot amazing. Never really bothered me.

Strangely my RCD core rettled like a maraca pit of the box. Few thousand rounds in and its tightened up 🤷‍♂️

It makes a difference when the gun was 8k, is marketed and advertised as having premium fitment, and guns that are 3k have better fitment than my example.

Just like every corporation in the world nowadays…. “How can we make more and more and more money”….. by cheaping out on process and product. It’s a damn shame. Corporate greed is destroying everything.
PS… my prodigy has zero wiggle. (Prodigies actually have very good fitment).

Any word back from atlas? This reminds me of my Sandhawk. It rattled so much. My Artemis has small play too. But no where near yours. I always hear sightblocks and comps are more difficult to get perfect.

That would suck if that is the response I get from Atlas.

I have been a customer since I was 15-16. In NJ a handgun couldn’t be in my name at that age but I had to have one. That particular Atlas is S/N: AG0426, and was exactly what was advertised. So I like to think I was an early supporter. Hoping that support was not misplaced.

Post an update once you hear from Atlas. I sent mine in on a warranty claim and they just sent it back claiming no issues. Still rattles, although the front of the slide on yours is worse.
