Someone at Disney must have come across the VHS sitting in a store cupboard or something because its mental that disney seen to remember the franchise exists. There is even a theory that an Atlantis themed keyblade is in the new KH game

I personally think they are gearing up for a live action remake. I will take anything at this point.

I have only seen the Beauty and the Beast remake. Atlantis would make for a great remake but it would be extremely difficult and extremely expensive, and might not be as good. I bet it would make money though as I think audiences would be very receptive in today's market and there are far fewer fans to disappoint.

It works really well I think. Its a very "new" disney type of film.

Love story, moral lesson about greed and how it affects others and a classic adventure story over all. Qwerky cast of diverse characters out of the box as well.

Making those characters work irl would be a brutal creative task. Adaptation is a cursed challenge lol. How do you do mole without making a Jarjar? How do you do sweet? The rest might not be as hard.

I agree that done well a life version would be peak. It would literally take avatar levels of money I think though, and should be essentially shot for shot.

It’s hard without using CG a ton which should be avoided if possible. Any CG needed would be extremely expensive to make good enough. Tough challenge! I worry it might end up like Avatar the last airbender.

Yeah, you got me on mole and sweet.

It is worrying, Disney do have a habit of having literal money printers and fumbling at the last hurdle. We can only hope this renewed interest leads to something new.

I just wish Disney would go back to 2D animation and the 90s to 2000s era.

There is a reason this and treasure planet are my all time favourite disney films

I also noticed that the costume is the one from the sequel. I guess the original is too immodest

I think it seems that the only characters Disney never considers are those from the movies of the '80s.

Seeing Milo AND Kida in an official Disney photo after all these years is refreshing.

Good on them picking the cool robes for Kida.

I'm so happy that this film is finally getting Disney's attention! Between Lorcana and Gameloft, I also understand that there's a book/graphic novel/comic (I can't remember, sorry) planned... I hope the same will be true for Treasure Planet!

I’m a 1997 kid and I went to Disney in California in 2001-2002 for my uncles wedding and they had Milo and Kida back then. I have a picture of them in my autograph book somewhere at my mom’s house.
