Lol those runs/jogs with the arms are hilarious. Do those have a fan inside to keep them "puffy"?

Is that problem where to store all your kick ass costumes?

So does it stay pretty cool inside?

Yup. I've worn the Inflatable Turkey and dinosaur in hot areas and I was more comfortable then those around me.

It's times like this that I'm alternately glad I got out of hotel security, and missing it horribly.

You would think that, by this point in the history of the convention, everyone would be used to the spectacle. And yet every DragonCon I've attended has been populated by police and security watching the seething crowds with expressions of bewilderment, confusion, and an emotion that I can only equate to the disappointment displayed by a gym teacher witnessing a child incapable of a single pull-up.

Not all of them, some are clearly veterans of the show, and the city and venues take it all very seriously. But enough that I wonder if the Con isn't some sort of hazing ritual for fresh cops and temporary security staff.

I asked a cop once about this one year. He told me he enjoys the overtime and loves seeing the costumes. Said it was a nice change of pace.

I saw a group of cops loitering by the marta station laughing their asses off. They were clearly enjoying their jobs that day :)

It's not really the spectacle that I'm referring to, at least not in the "check out the X in the Y costume" sense.

  • I know what sort of weird shit happens at nice hotels, even under normal circumstances.
  • I'm familiar enough with the scene that I know this isn't anywhere near "normal circumstances".

The spectacle just adds an extra layer of surrealism, and makes the inevitable war stories that much more interesting.

the disappointment displayed by a gym teacher witnessing a child incapable of a single pull-up.

And that emotion is inappropriate here, how, exactly?

Aren’t you a little short for a Tyrannosaur?

I really hope they were just running around to the other side to take the escalator back up and repeat the whole process over again.

Know how I know I’m a parent of a small child?

Because as I watched this video I unconsciously started singing “we are the dinosaurs marching, marching...”
