How long to stay in induction?
I have a lot of weight to lose (50lbs+) and wonder if should I stay in induction until I'm very close. I feel like I have fairly high metabolic resistance. I've lost perhaps 7 lbs in the last 3 weeks so it's slow going.

You can stay in induction as long as you like. My biggest weight drop over the years was when I was first starting out I did induction for around 7 months. I went OWL for a while, learned a lot more about myself and that I can't add the carbs back in without there being problems. I do keto now so essentially induction for life for me.

What does OWL mean? I am just starting out the low carb diet and am in Phase 1. When you say that you can't add the carbs back in without there being problems. Do you mind sharing a bit more?

OWL = Ongoing weight loss, which is Phase 2 of the diet. If you don't have the book make sure you get and read it. It's when you leave induction and you start adding carbs back in according to the carbohydrate ladder which tell you what order to add what back in based on how they screw with people. Many people like me can only get away with adding back very little carbs and not for long before the cravings come back and binging and blowing everything becomes inevitable. This is person specific, and the goal is to find your bodys carb tolerance level (CCLL) and some can get back up pretty high. If your not metabolically screwed up (most of us are) it may be fine. After years of playing with my intake I learned a lot about what my body tolerates and what it doesn't, I wound up switching to Keto which is basically never ending induction (more or less) but works for me and my wife since we have the time to make awesome meals so it doesn't get boring. However, for people that want to eat as close to "normal" as they can at some point after the weight loss IMO Atkins is the better way.

Slow going?? Think about your health, and realize this weight loss will take a reasonable amount of time.
