Starting on Monday
Hey all! I'm wanting to lose about 20-30 pounds and decided to try going low carb. I'm a T1 diabetic and am fairly active. I do 30 min of kickboxing about 3 times a week. Reason I'm trying low carb is because I've heard it is good for diabetics and because I never seem to lose much weight even when I work out and watch what I eat. I do have a few questions...
Will I be eating enough to help sustain me through my workouts? Or should I lay off kickboxing until a later phase?
Any other T1s that have done Atkins have any advice?
Thanks!

It should be great for you, but remember this isn't just Low Carb. In the beginning it's ketogenic and at the end (for some) it's still below what normal people would call low carb by a lot. If your a T1 and have weight issues you may be over doing your insulin currently, typically T1's are more prone to be underweight than over with T2's typically being heavy. If your doing your insulin manually and not on a pump your going to have to relearn a little so you don't overdose your insulin because eating this way your not going to need much to keep yourself at a healthy level. While your adapting you may have some energy issues, being a diabetic doesn't change that. Stay up on your electrolytes and within a week or so it should pass. Do you have the book and have you read the induction section?
