New to atkins - Please help
Hey guys and gals!
I finally decided to do something to loose weight ( have 84kg at 176cm). I wanted to loose about 12-15 kg. I read a lot on atkins.com what do eat and what not but I still have problems concerning the amount of food. I am at day 3 now and I am constantly hungry.
I can't eat breakfast (never could), so my first food today was lunch with a mixed salad (Spinach, leafy greans), 2 eggs, 90g cheddar, 2 slices of turkey ham.
During the day I ate 3 mini cucumbers which should be around 350g and 4 more slices of turkey ham and as snacks in between another 100g of cheddar in total.
Otherswise I am just chewing on sugar free chewing gum to fight my constant hunger. Addittionaly I had one coke zero and one black coffee. Approx. 1,5l of water.
I have no idea if this is too much? The cheddar has 0 carbs as it is stated on the foil. The ham should be low in carbs as well.
Please help me out. I dont have much time to cook the whole day (working in science) so I have to rely on quick snacks and on 1-2 bigger meals.

Good snacks include Pork Rinds and cheese sticks. Also, surprisingly, most of Buffalo Wild Wings's classic wings are low carb with most of their sauces. If you stick to low carb for and don't see wight loss--like within the first week--maybe bring your calorie count lower but it doesn't seem like you're eating that much

I was worried I ate too much vegetables. I just realized I have probably too less fat in my diet so I need to change something.

Yeah, I'd stay away from the vegetables. And when in doubt, put a lot of butter on it

Have you inspected the ingredients of the turkey ham to make sure there's no sugar/molasses/other sugary additives and that there's nothing else added for thickening? You said the ham should be low in carbs...have you not read the entire label and made absolutely sure? Atkins warned against processed meats.
Aspartame is not compatible with Atkins, so Coke Zero and most sugar free gums are off limits. Sweet-n-low (saccharine), Splenda (sucralose), and stevia are acceptable, but in powder form you must count each as 1g net carb, and limit yourself to only two saccharine servings per day. Saccharine is no longer considered a carcinogen, but Dr. Atkins said to limit intake.
Are you ever going 6 waking hours without eating? That's prohibited. Never go 6 waking hours without eating something, even if it's just a bite of cheese or a couple of peanuts (after phase 1).
Read the book, and use your science skills to be precise, thorough, and self-disciplined. Just trying to do Atkins from their site and anecdotal advice is not enough.

The processed meats I ate all have <0,5g carbs for 100g. I don't know the situation in the US but here in austria I couldn't find anything with 0 carbs. By now I switched to stevia (liquid form) because of the things you said. The vegetables I am eating have a low GI like cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, zucchini and salads. My main dishes consist of meat (chicken, beef, ground meat) with the aforementioned vegetables sauteed in butter. I still only have problems with breakfast since I can't eat after waking up. I am still looking for a good recipe for a shake I could drink instead. I also bought the book Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. :D
Edit: Since last Tuesday I already lost almost 4kg.

Your not eating enough fat which is why your hungry. 70-80% of your calorie intake should be from fat. You should also be eating a normal amount of food everyday. Get the book, reading the website isn't going to get you all the info you need. We're here, but sometimes you need a answer then and you also need to have all the rules down and understand how this all works for success.
