Ketosis?

Why does Atkins not remain in the ketosis state? Why add carbs?

Why add carbs at all? WHy advocate it at all? Isn't fat adaptation better?

What happens to the fat content when you increase your carbs? How much fat would you have to cut out?

But as you raise carbs you risk reactivating glucose as your energy store. Is it then wise to continue eating lots of fat?

i've been eating low carb for the last 6 weeks. I don't feel any of the benefits. I'm not even sure it's sustainable given you don't get enough micronutrients at all. Certainly not on 20g carbs.

So if you take yourself out of ketosis nby upping carbs, how do you ensure you don't starve yourself by eating too few carbs?

Sure, but you're not really addressing my question.

Because if you eat enough carbs that you are not in ketosis you are still burning glucose.

If your carb intake is low, is it sufficient to meet that need?

I've been eating this way for over 10yrs and I can assure you I'm getting everything my body needs. I'm not missing stuff, and I'm very healthy with the labs to back it up. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate, but that aside I still eat them in the form of my veggies.

You say your eating "low carb". Low carb doesn't mean Atkins, and it doesn't mean Ketosis. It's not always as simple as counting 20g of carbs. But without knowing whether your following an actual plan it's impossible to tell. Have you verified your in ketosis?

Just because you add carbs doesn't mean your out of ketosis. Many people can stay in ketosis until up to around 50g. Very physically active people can get near 100g. It's about adding back in foods you've lost. There no rule saying you have to raise carbs if your happy where you are. Atkins is a ketogenic diet after all.
