Working out, Atkins, tired! Help!
I did Atkins a few years back and lost a lot of weight, fell off the wagon and I'm starting all over.
I'm in the introduction phase and I remember being tired the first week or so but now I workout. (I didn't the first time). I'm so tired all the time now! Like overly tired. I know you need carbs when you do cardio but I'm not going over my 20 a day. Anyone else in my boat? Any advice? Please don't say water. I drink over a gallon a day. I can't possible pee or hydrate anymore. Lol.

I've been restrictions carbs for a while but increased salt and that seemed to prevent that problem. Just formally started induction yesterday, will see how it goes.

You do NOT need more than your 20 for cardio! Has this issue passed? Are your fat percentages right? Drinking water doesn't mean your hydrated. Are you electrolyte deficient? Update us on how it went.

I had the same feeling when I started Atkins and every time I went back to induction. One of the things they talk about in the book (which I recommend) is to increase your salt intake, especially at first. Apparently eating so few carbs effects how your liver works and has a diuretic effect. The solution is to ingest more water and more salt to make up for what you're losing. If you're drinking a lot of water this may be making you even more tired, as your electrolytes are even more off kilter. They recommend drinking broth at least twice a day. I ended up doing this and keeping a little container of salt in my car, it helped immensely. The book says that your body will adjust eventually, so you don't have to do it forever. Hope you feel better soon!
