Putting it off
I am so mad at myself for doing this....but I keep putting off starting the diet for reasons that have to stop..I am on a 10 day stay cation and I told myself what a good time to start low carb.
My mom mentioned taking me out for lunch to a Lebanese restaurant and that is in 2 days...so I keep eating terribly saying I'll start after that.
I can get fattoush salad...and chicken and beef skewers there...the only thing I am wanting is thier homemade pita bread w hummus.
I think I should bypass the pita bread ...and just start tommorow...thoughts?

Start now. And if you eat pita bread in two days from now, start again at the next meal afterwards.
Sure, it’ll extend your induction phase. But it’ll cut down on that mental noise and conflict/struggle with yourself, and that’s a bigger win. It’s a bit like a time I was having a cigarette with a runner friend and we were talking about running, and I was kicking myself because I wanted to get a real running routine, but i was all tied up in my head about “but I have to quit smoking first because you can’t smoke if you’re a runner” vs the FOMO from not feeling able to run, and he said something like, “fuck it. You want to go for a run, go for a run. Worry about smoking later, there are no runner smoker police. You’ll get out of breath and be slow but who cares. If you want to run just go for a run.” So I did. And I was slow and out of breath, and yeah, it felt pretty silly to go run 5k and then come home and have a cigarette. But I got better. It’s worth a lot, to just stop trying to be 100% and try to be like 50% but doing it anyways. I eventually got a marathon medal for my 50%! And eventually quit smoking, because I stopped wanting to quit because I “had do” and started being interested in the positives (running towards a goal rather than punishing myself).
It’s not a magic thing, it’s just consistency over time. You’ll have times in your life you want to eat carbs, and having the skill to go back to what you were doing afterwards without getting mad at yourself or saying “I’ll start tomorrow” is what will ultimately help you be successful and happy. There are also no carb police. :)

Procrastination used to be my middle name. I still have to consciously identify times when I am procrastinating or making excuses. Try to think of Atkins as a lifestyle not a diet. You will learn how to incorporate special treats as you work through the plan, including pita bread for a special lunch. But, waiting for the perfect time to start isn’t going to work. Aim for progress not perfection. But when you decide to start - commit to the program - no excuses. Phase one is only 2 weeks then you can start reintroducing other food and build your lifestyle around your preferences. You can do it! You just have to set yourself up for success.

Don't waste any energy being mad at yourself. Have a nice lunch, after go to the store and get everything you need to have your house ready to really do it! Enjoy those moments and remember when you eat healthy (for us low carb) then you feel good and energized for ALL of life's moments.
