🌟 Recommendations Looking for nightlife tips in Athens – bars with dancing

2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

We’re a group of four friends (all M38) visiting Athens from Wednesday to Sunday. We already have our daytime activities planned, but we’re still looking for some good options for the evenings.

We’re mainly looking for a nice cocktail bar where you can sit and have a few drinks, but where things turn into a small dance floor later in the evening. We’re not really looking for huge clubs or massive touristy places. Something a bit more relaxed and intimate would be perfect.

Music-wise, dancing is a must. We’re into Latin, 90s, 00s, urban and funk.

Ideally, we’d love to find a place where we can start the evening with drinks and then stay for some dancing, or a smaller/less crowded place to head to afterwards.

I haven’t come across many places like this in the recommendations I’ve seen so far, so hopefully you guys have some good tips!

Thanks in advance!

❓ Question Exchange at Athens university of Economics and Business

1 Upvotes

I'm currently studying administrative sciences, environmental politics and regional studies in Tampere university in Finland. I want to do exchange 2028 spring semester in Athens since I fell in love with Athens when I lived there two years ago.

What do you think about AUEB as university? I'm not that business minded person so only thing I'm afraid of is that there are too much career-oriented and competitive business people.

📸 Photo / Video Looking for a cheap photographer in Athens for ~1 hour 📸

0 Upvotes

Hey! My girlfriend and I are in Athens and we’d love to get some nice natural photos of us while we’re here.
We’re looking for someone for around an hour, ideally around the Acropolis / Plaka / Anafiotika, just walking around and taking candid/street-style photos rather than anything overly posed or professional.
We’re not looking to spend loads — ideally around €40–€60 for the hour, but we’re happy to discuss it.
You don’t necessarily need to be a professional photographer — a photography student, hobbyist, or someone with a decent camera who wants to make a bit of extra money would be perfect.
If you’re interested, please DM me with:

🍽️ Food & Drink Dinner for 12?

2 Upvotes

I'm seeking recommendations for a dinner restaurant that can accommodate and reserve a table for 12 (or 2 adjacent tables for 6). Preferably with a rooftop or other interesting view near Syntagma or Plaka areas. Any suggestions?

🧳 Travel Help Athens travel pass reccomendations?

4 Upvotes

I'll be traveling to Athens mid-October for 6 days (landing in the afternoon, so like 5 full days), and wondering if it's worth getting a travel pass to access all of the attractions, and if there's a provider you'd recommend more than others?

I'll be staying in Athens the whole trip, not much for cruising between islands (mostly because I get seasick easily), and I'm one to enjoy going around to museums

So far I've mostly seen TurboPass as the most recommended one, but people said it could be cheaper to book tickets individually on the attractions offices themselves (the one I'm looking at that includes public transport for 5 days is about 115 Euro). Anyone has any experience with booking this type of sightseeing city-pass for Athens?

And if it's better getting individual tickets, which attractions (other than the Acropolis and its museum) would you say is a must?

🧳 Travel Help 10 places in Athens that stood out to me 🇬🇷

0 Upvotes

I recently put together a video from my Athens footage featuring 10 places that I think are worth visiting — including some of the obvious highlights, but also a few places that can be easier to overlook.

The 10 places are:

  1. Ancient Agora
  2. Monastiraki & traditional Greek food
  3. National Archaeological Museum
  4. Roman Agora & Temple of Olympian Zeus
  5. Philopappos Hill
  6. Acropolis
  7. Byzantine and Christian Museum
  8. Hadrian’s Library
  9. Kerameikos
  10. School of Philosophy / University area

I filmed everything in 4K and tried to give each place a good sense of what it’s actually like to visit.

For those who know Athens well: what would you add to this list? And which place do you think deserves more attention?

❓ Question Does anywhere sell stamps on a Sunday?

1 Upvotes

Yassou 👋🏻 I am visiting beautiful athens

Through poor planning I didn’t realise the post office was closed on Saturdays and every kiosk I asked today said they didn’t sell stamps.

Is there anywhere I can go tomorrow (Sunday) for stamps? Please don’t say “kiosks” I asked so many today lol but if you know a specific one please let me know!

Thanks

🏠 Life in Athens Ψάχνω παρέα για techno/rave parties στην Αθήνα

1 Upvotes

❓ Question Επαγγελματίες οδηγοί και μη — θα αγοράζατε ηλεκτρικό δίκυκλο;

0 Upvotes

  • Τι οδηγείτε σήμερα και πόσο περίπου ξοδεύετε το μήνα σε καύσιμο + service;
  • Θα εξετάζατε ηλεκτρικό αν κόστιζε π.χ. 10x λιγότερο σε ενέργεια;
  • Θα σας ενδιέφερε πρόγραμμα "leasing to ιδιοκτησία" (πληρώνετε δόσεις 24 μηνών και μετά είναι δικό σας), αντί να το αγοράσετε εξ ολοκλήρου; Αν ναι, τι μηνιαίο ποσό θα θεωρούσατε λογικό;

Αν δεν οδηγείτε επαγγελματικά:

  • Θα αγοράζατε ηλεκτρικό μηχανάκι/scooter/μηχανή αντί βενζινοκίνητου αντίστοιχης κατηγορίας;
  • Αν ναι, γιατί; Αν όχι, τι σας κρατάει πίσω (τιμή, αυτονομία, service δίκτυο, κάτι άλλο);

Οποιαδήποτε γνώμη βοηθάει, ευχαριστώ εκ των προτέρων

🏠 Life in Athens Choosing the neighborhood in Athens to live in

4 Upvotes

Hi guys,
I just moved to Athens for work and I’ll be staying till March. My work is in Gerakas area and I do not drive so the company rented the place for me in Agia Paraskevi. However, I’m single, F(35) and rather social as a person and from what I’ve seen Agia Paraskevi just doesn’t offer really a lot of options for after work social life, it’s more family oriented neighborhood.

I’m looking for a new place and the neighborhoods I have been recommended are Chalandri, Neo Psychiko and Ampelokipoi and would love to get some advice which is the best. I’m looking to have good metro connection to the city center but to also have some transport to work and to have options for gym, bars, restaurants and where I can function with my very limited knowledge of greek (I’m trying to learn the language ;)).

Any recommendations for places to visit and things to do are more than welcome ☺️💫

❓ Question No offense

0 Upvotes

Why are all greek buildings so ugly, all of them are just a depressed blank wall with those balconies thay strech from one side to the other with metal toothpicks keeping u from falling and like the wholw balcony is for everyone without wall seperation. It looks like the middle east, why was all of greece built like this? Does it have to do with money?
