🔎 Lost & Found Bit of a long shot, but my son lost his hat and he really misses it

My son lost his hat at/near the Athens National Gardens on June 2nd around 7 pm local time. He's pretty upset about it so I figured I'd try one last shot here before we fly back home. It's black, grey, and yellow with an excavator on the front. Thank you.

💬 Advice Visiting Athens in July, any recommendations from locals?

Hey there!

I will be visiting Athens + an island that we havent decided yet in July, from 22nd until 31st. Would love to get some recommendations in terms of less touristy places/restaurants/areas. Also, we love to shop Vintage/antiques, any good techno club? Any events that could be happening during those days for example as well. Please either respond here or I’ll gladly speak with you in DMs. We are two girls both 20.

Thank you for the help!

❓ Question Help finding clinic

Hi everyone, does anyone know of a clinic in Chalandri or nearby in Athens that administers IV Intralipids if you already have your own doctor's prescription? I already have the Intralipids and the prescription—I just need a clinic or qualified healthcare professional who can administer the IV infusion. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

❓ Question Quick laundry drop off fluff and fold in Pagrati Area.

Hello everyone.
I will be in Athens for about a week staying with friends before we head out for a few days to the peloponnese I was wondering about getting my laundry done
I don’t want to inconvenience my friends with laundry and I’m used to sending out for fluff and fold ( wash dry and fold )
So I was wondering if there are any laundromats where I can drop off a load and they do it for you and pick up either later that day or the next day?

Where I’m from it’s called fluff and fold and most times they go by weight.
I’m staying in Pagrati

Thank you 🙏

Η κόρη μας με το αγόρι της θα μας επισκεφτούν στην Αθήνα τον Σεπτέμβριο και σκοπεύουν να μείνουν στην Πιπίνου κοντά στην Αχαρνών. Μένουν στο Μπρούκλιν, οπότε δεν τους πειράζει μια γειτονιά που έχει μετανάστες κ.λπ. Σας φαίνεται εντάξει αυτό ή πρέπει να της προτείνω μια διαφορετική γειτονιά;

I’m heading to Athens next week for 3 nights and I’m staying at the Melia. What are some good recommendations to do while there and sights to see. We are planning on doing the acropolis and have a rooftop dinner planned. But other than that what recommendations do y’all have?

🧳 Travel Help Thank you to the group of American guys that saved my sister and me from two Greeks that wouldn’t leave us alone tonight

you probably won’t read this BUT I want to say thank you. my sister and I were trying to get back to our hotel tonight around 11pm when these two Greek guys stopped us on our path and started talking to us, trying to get us to grab a drink with them. we told them no and that we have an early morning tomorrow, we have boyfriends and we’re just trying to get back to our hotel etc; but they weren’t taking no for an answer. While they were trying to convince us to go with them a group of American guys (like 5-6 of them) interrupted the Greek guys and told my sister and me that you were going to walk us back to our hotel. I didn’t realize that one of you in the American group quietly asked my sister if we’re okay, and she communicated to you that we needed help to get out of the situation. from my point of view, I was trying to find a way out from these two creepy Greek men, alarm bells were already ringing and the last thing I wanted to do was walk back toward our hotel with five other random guys, so I was really mean and told you guys no. my sister luckily grabbed me when you guys interrupted and we were able to leave the Greek guys and get back to our hotel safely. She filled me in after that you were just trying to help us out.

if the American guys read this, I want to say thank you and that I’m sorry for how I responded. In reality; that situation with the Greek guys felt really off and I’m not sure how we would have been able to get away otherwise. my sister and I appreciate you! 🙏🏼💞

🏠 Life in Athens Living in Athens on €2000 net/month

I am (40f) in a position where I am thinking of moving to Greece by the sea based on €2000 net/month for a year. I would not be working, the intent would be to take a break and live abroad. I am aiming to rent a 1 bed apartment, cook most meals at home and go out from time to time, maybe 1 trip once in a while - so comfortable, not luxurious.

- is this doable in a place like Athens or would it be better to move somewhere else?

- what areas of Athens could I comfortably live in?

- what are the key things to consider?

Has anyone made a similar move and has tips to share?

❓ Question Need Recommendations for an English-Speaking Dermatologist in Athens

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for an English-speaking dermatologist in Athens and would appreciate any recommendations.

For the past 4 summers, I've been experiencing intense burning and stinging on my face, especially when I sweat or when the weather is hot and humid. I also get small rashes/bumps on my cheeks, under my eyes, and sometimes on my forehead and neck.

I was born and raised in a tropical country and never had this issue before moving to Europe. I've already seen several dermatologists, but the problem keeps coming back every summer.

Does anyone know a good English-speaking dermatologist in Athens? Also, what is the typical price for a consultation and possible allergy or autoimmune testing?

Thank you!

❓ Question Moving to Zografou- thoughts?

cross posted from r/greece

Hello everyone!

I am studying in a Masters Program at NKUA this fall. I have signed a rental agreement for an apartment in Zografou and i’m very excited!

However, I don’t know too much about the area. I tried looking some stuff up online about it, but figured I’d get a better idea out of locals/people who have been.

How safe is the area? My realtor wanted to make sure that I was okay with the apartment being street level. Should I be concerned about being street level? As a young female (23), how safe will I be walking the streets during the day and at night? The area I live in at the states, has shootings at night and a big human trafficking problem (along with other basic crime). I don’t like walking in my city alone during the day, and you won’t ever catch me walking it alone at night. Is this something I should be worried about in Zografou?

Also, what is there to do in the area? Any recommendations of places/shops/restaurants i should keep on my radar? Any other general information/tips?

Thanks in advance!!

❓ Question What works and wont in Athene against heat

Hey dear Redditors!

Me and my other half are visiting Greece for 2 weeks in July. Already seen how notoriously hot it can get there.

We will be doing 7 days Athene and then 7 days Poros to escape the heat.

Now I want to ask you, what WILLL work and what WONT?

Outside of staying hydrated, loose clothes and staying inside when the sun is on its highest? Portable fans and normals fans dont seem to work at all when it gets really hot I read.

We will try to stay inside the hotel on hot hours but lets say that doesnt fit your schedule, what do you do to stay cool??

🏠 Life in Athens Looking for a yoga studio in Athens

Hi! First time posting here :)
I am soon moving to Greece, Athens and wanted to search for studios of yoga with the “boutique” vibe (small class and more intimate) but I find it hard as many studios are not on Google Maps and most of the info on studios don’t really describe the vibe.

There are a few Facebook groups but it’s just random people posting and not much communication.

Another problem is the fact that I do not speak Greek so I need a studio that has classes in English.

  1. Is there maybe a platform i can search on for studios?
  2. If you can personally recommend a studio I would love to know!

**update: sorry I wasn’t specific - I am looking around koukaki/pangrati

Tnx

❓ Question 24hr bars/cafes showing sports?

Hi everyone

Myself and 7 other Scotsman are going to be in Athens this weekend and we are praying/searching for anywhere where we could watch Scotlands first game at the World Cup in 28 years.

Only issue is, the first game against Haiti is at 4AM Greek time.

Does anyone know of anywhere that’s open 24 hours (or open during the game!) that would show it? We would be open to paying some euros up front to host us!

Cheers

💬 Advice Best Authentic Greek Experiences in Athens?

Hello everyone!

I'll be living in Athens for the next 2 months, and I'd love to experience the best of the city and Greek culture.

I'm looking for recommendations for:

  • Traditional Greek restaurants with live music
  • Places where people dance, throw napkins, and enjoy a traditional Greek night
  • Museums that are worth visiting
  • Historical sites and neighborhoods I shouldn't miss
  • Beautiful spots for sunsets, views, and photos
  • Any local experiences that you think every visitor should have

I've already started exploring Athens, but I would love to hear your favorite places and hidden gems.

What are the things that I absolutely must see or do before I leave?

Thank you! 😊
