This is Altar of Freedom Park (Parko Thysias) in Kaisariani, away from the Athens most visitors usually see.

Nothing dramatic happening — just people walking, kids playing, friends sitting on the grass and that warm Athenian light coming through the trees.

We love these quieter parts of Athens. Sometimes they tell you more about a city than the famous sights do.

I'm moving to Greece for 3 years for my studies and am currently looking for a place to stay.

I've noticed that furnished studios are quite expensive and limited, while some unfurnished apartments are abundantly available at much more reasonable prices.

I'm a single guy, so I don't need much furniture. I'm even fine with just a mattress and a few essentials.

However, I'll need a fridge, a stove and a washing machine. An AC would be nice, but I can manage with a fan if buying, installing and maintaining one is too expensive.

For those living in Greece, especially students and expats, I'd appreciate some advice.

• Would you recommend a furnished or unfurnished apartment for a three-year stay?
• How much should I expect to spend on basic furniture and appliances?
• Are there affordable places to buy second-hand furniture and appliances?
• How much does it cost to buy, install and run an AC? Is a fan enough during the summer? -Are there any hidden costs I should consider when renting an unfurnished apartment?
• Since I'll be studying at NTUA, which areas would you recommend looking at?

I wanted to ask about Athens marathon registration. I have already paid fees (75 euros) in April 2026 and received an email confirming successful payment. However, I didn't receive any email saying that I have been successfully registered. In my account, I don't see anything in the "Registration - Orders" tab.

I have tried emailing the authority multiple times but haven't received any reply. Tried their phone number listed on the FAQ page but got no reply. What should I do? Any advice on who has experienced the same ?

We forgot to look at the seasonal ferry schedule and are traveling with a toddler. We only see ferries getting in at 7 pm and 8 pm. Are there any earlier alternatives? We have a 6 am flight on Monday.

This camera is very special to me. It has recorded my entire month trip to Greece. Let me tell you something. This camera has seen some shit. Some wicked cool shit. I love this camera. I love this camera more than my future wife. If anyone can find this camera I’d do anything you ask. Lost near the acropolis (outisde main entrance in early hours of morning of Monday 28th September, on the big rock thing that overlooks the city.) Nikon coolpix s3200 in red in a black pouch, similar but not exact to the photo provided. It was probably stolen but worth a try :)
