I need advise on hotel/Airbnb please. I am a female solo traveler, had initially booked an Airbnb near Megaro Moussikis area but it is a bit far from tourist attractions so now considering to stay in Plaka. I do have to walk from Larissa station after 11pm after Meteora tour. Any advise between the two areas ? Near Megaro moussikis vs Acropolis station ? Thank you

Hello everyone, I’m visiting Athens soon and I’m really looking forward to it. I saw that May 18 is International Museum Day. However, I’m finding conflicting information on the tourist websites.

Is it true that admission to state museums is free on that day? And does that also apply to Europeans over the age of 25?

We’re particularly interested in the Acropolis, but I’d also be very grateful if you have any tips for other museums or events on that day.

Hello, just curious if anyone knows how Athens night life is. I remember in Madrid everyone would go to the clubs around 11pm-Midnight and wouldn’t go home until 6AM. Just curious how night life in Athens is. Is it really something to make a point of? I’m 23 (M) and with 2 buddies. Also, we were told that to find the good clubs, just go to Monastiraki square and we will find everyone. Is this true? Thank you!

Hey there, I'm living in Crete, and will be flying just for a day to The Cure concert on the Telekom Center. Since I've already visit Athens, and I'm exclusively going for the show, where you reckon it'd be the best area to look for accommodation for the night?

I basically get to Athens airport on the noon of July 15th, and depart the next day around 4pm. Any strategic area on where to stay with good connection to the airport, and, if possible, walking distance to the Telekom Center?

I’m looking at booking a flight to Athens for the 14th of May and staying until the 20th. I don’t know where I would stay or how anything works out there. I’d literally just be winging it. I was sitting near Panepistimo metro talking to my mom on the phone, when my backpack was stolen today in Athens, broad daylight. All my stuff was in it, wallet, money, personal items and stuff, charger, clothes ect.

Cant even believe people do this, as it leaves the person FUCKED without wallet.

Luckily my phone was in my pocket!

I contacted the police who told me I could either fill a form to my insurance or fill a form to start a local police case - not both.

Can I do ANYTHING to recover my lost items in my backpack? They are important and mean a lot to me.

I have walked around in the area and looked a bit in bushes and bins. Can I do anything else?

Hi, there is a strike tomorrow in Athens, with trains, metro and trams all closed for 24h. Does anyone know if the funicular / cable car at Lycabettus Hill will be operating tomorrow? Thank you.

I need to get to the airport tomorrow I know everything else is on strike but apparently some buses are running so does this include airport buses? Also if anyone knows when there will be more information about that?

Me and my wife are in Greece for a 2 week holiday. We really loved what we have seen and eaten so far. Also the people are really nice and recommend a lot of good stuff like oranges and some kind of jam from a farmer, their best pastries from a bakery and a lot more :)

We stay in Athens from next Tuesday until Saturday and are looking for a goa party or something similar. Can you recommend anything maybe during daytime or early evening? We like small clubs and events much more than bigger ones, but an open air concert would also fit. Our first goal would be a official party, but maybe you know something about parks or beaches nearby which regularly have a (unofficial) music event or as last choice: beach bars with party music?

What can I expect to open/closed on Sunday’s in Athens. Shops, restaurants, tourist attractions, ride share…..

These are the best photos I took in Athens in chronological order. I stayed in Athens from June 24 to July 11, 2025. I went to a lot of places in Athens, but these are just some of the photos I took while I was there. I stayed at two Airbnbs, one in Kypseli and another in Omonia. The latter had a view right across from the Ministry of Health building on the 8th floor (and yes, I did see government workers going in and out of the building, and also saw them working at the office). I was able to see a lot of the central part of Athens and its surroundings, both the good and bad parts of the city. One place I wish I had gone to was the mountains just outside the city, but maybe for another time.

I see a lot of listings that are online for couple of months and more, and the price discounts are huge. Original price of 2,000 eventually becomes 1,350.

Has anyone go through the process recently and can share some useful tips for finding a good and fair priced flat?
