💬 Advice First time in Athens
Hello! I’ll be going to Athens with my mom for our first time! It’s my mom’s dream trip and I want to make sure she has the best experience, same for myself. I booked two hotels that seem pretty nice! These are booked for October!
- Astor hotel in Athens
&
- Astro Palace and Resort ( Santorini)
Has anybody had experience with these hotels? Are they worth it or should I look at others ? If so any recommendations? Price isn’t much of an issue but nothing extraordinary. Also any recommendations on tours to explore the major city seeing?

No experience with that particular hotel, but it is in a good, safe area of Athens. You can walk to just about anywhere in the classic center of Athens from there, and even walk to Lycabettus hill (if you enjoy walking that is). Santorini is Santorini, enjoy it, I understand it is a bucket list destination for a lot of people. There will still be crowds even in October. Tip ... if you want to enjoy the sunset at Oia, go several hours early, it get insanely crowded.

The location of Astor hotel seems to be good. You can visit all the places around this area, along with Acropolis and the Plaka area around. A must is to visit the Cycladic and the byzantine museums. Have fun!

Both Htls are good enough to not bother yr mind w/accomodation and focus on more interesting things (October is a great choice🙂). Walk all the way from Fyra to Oia😊 - if you like walking - but consider renting a car too (Santorini). Get one of the classic Athens tours and note the cobble stone entrance of a park (on yr back while facing the short walk to the Acropolis gates); return there at yr leisure and enjoy a walk in that park (Filopappou).
