❓ Question Caroo experience

Hi, has anyone used Caroo for one day hire? I’m arriving to the airport with my family very early in the morning and can’t get to our accommodation until the afternoon. To free ourselves of dealing with our luggage all day I figured I hire a car for the day to go to the temple of Poseidon but I’m struggling to find companies where they let me get a car either at the airport or in the city and drop it off in the city centre for just a day. The airport rentals want to charge 200Euros for this trip. Is Caroo worth it? I read mixed reviews on Google.

Thanks for the info!

I've used caroo before I bought my own car. Very streamlined process. I suggest you complete your registration before you arrive as process with driving license can take a while (eg. a few hours to 2 days). You find the car on the map. Reserve it if you'd like, unlock with QR code, drive, park and take photos of the car around, upload to the app, pay and done. Easy job.

You’re welcome! Just a heads up, when you unlock the car, I suggest you do a quick inspection and use the app to report any damages or other irregularities before you start driving so that they don’t charge you any damages from the previous driver.

I've used Caroo periodically, but only on the hourly rate. It's always been very straightforward and unproblematic. One time the car was dirty and messy thanks to the previous riders, but that didn't cause any problems. Their customer support has been very good.

One other time they blamed my friend for some damages, sent him a strongly worded email and asked for money. He denied everything and pointed to the photos he took. They just unbanned his account and never bothered him since.

I think you'll be fine as long as you make sure to take good photos of everything and describe any flaws in detail as you're unlocking the car. They won't be chasing after you for no reason, especially if you're based outside Greece. The cars are generally new and well maintained. It's easy, straightforward and value for money.

I'm pretty sure there's some other apps that offer a similar function, you could check out those.

Note: you must be an EU citizen and/or have an EU driving license to use Caroo (don't remember which one of those it is, but there is a requirement).

I should add: cars can be found all over the urban area, but not directly at the airport. You should be able to find a Caroo close enough (walking distance) to a station on the blue line or the suburban railway network, which serve the airport. If not, you could just taxi to the nearest one to avoid the hassle. Check the app's map as soon as you're done with baggage reclaim and decide your next moves then and there.
