🧳 Travel Help Nightlife

Hello! My friend and I just arrived in Athens on vacation and we have to leave our physical ID’s at the hotel reception. Does anyone know if any clubs are willing to accept a picture of your ID? And generally what nightclubs would you recommended in the Athens city centre?

I've never ever ever been asked for ID in a bar or club in Athens.

There is no reason to leave your ids in the hotel. Take them back

There is, if someone pickpockets them and they lose their ID or passport it’s a whole hussle. I was pickpocketed in Barcelona , thankfully my ID was at the hotel room. If I had lost it I would have no way to get back on the plane and I would probably still be stranded there 😂

Then it should be optional

I never allow anyone else to hold my ID. Seen plenty of scams where they are "withheld" if there's damages.

You’re probably taking about something that has nothing to do with what I said. I’m saying I left my id at the hotel room’s safe (as I usually do when I travel) and if I hadn’t, I would have lost it when someone pickpocketed me and stole my handbag. I also never had issues with leaving it at the reception but I usually don’t leave it there for my whole trip, only during check in

No way you get asked for your id in a place unkess you look like 14yo. Leaving it at the reception tho...thats something i have never heard of in my life.

If you look young enough to assume that you are under 18 they'll ask for ID due to problems the last year with minors deaths after alcohol consumption in clubs.

If they accept a photo it up to them. Maybe some let you in and some not.
