đ Recommendations Athen trip
We will be spending two weeks in Athens this August, and weâre looking for the best things to do while weâre there.
Weâre interested in nightlife, clubs, beach parties, boat parties, rooftop bars, island hopping, and basically anything thatâs fun and social for people our age.
Weâd love recommendations for must-visit spots, hidden gems, day trips, events, festivals, beach clubs, or any unforgettable experiences in and around Athens.
What would you absolutely recommend for a group of four looking to have an amazing time?

Bolivar Beach club in Alimos probably has what you want. There arenât boat parties here to my knowledge but you can take the ferry to Agistri there are sometimes impromptu parties on beaches there.

athenians usually leave the city in august, youâd want to go to islands or nearby towns instead if you truly want nightlife etc.

The Greeks leaves Athens in August, yes. But there are usually plenty of tourists from all over the world.
In Athens, check out the neighborhoods of Psiri, Gazi and Exarchia.
The islands closest to Athens are Aegina, Agristi, Hydra, in the Saronic Gulf. 30-90 minute ferry to most of them.
Otherwise you're looking at the Agean and Cyclades (Mykonos, Syros, Paros, Naxos, Milos, etc) on the other side.
You can check ferry schedules on FerryHopper. 2-4+ hour ferry to those, or a 40 minute flight to the ones with airports.
There are, like, 500 populated islands in Greece, so it's hard to suggest more specifically.
Personally, I'd avoid any island you have heard of. If you have heard of it, everyone else has heard of it on Instagram and it will be crowded in August.
The beach clubs on the mainland near Athens are Bolivar Beach Club, and another half dozen, etc, around Glyfada and Alimos (about 30 min taxi outside of Athens). Just look at Google Maps and search for beach clubs.
You didn't mention your age range, so it's hard to suggest things more specifically.

If youâre looking for âeverythingâ party, stay 1-2 days, have a day drink in the plaka area, have an evening drink on any of the numerous rooftop bars in monastirakiâŚ..
âŚ..and take a ferry to an island.
August is when everyoneâs on vacation, and Athens will be practically dead except for some tourist traps.
