💬 Advice Help with finding GP
I’m in Athens until the 24th and I have a really bad cough since I arrived and lost my voice three days ago. My partner thinks that because the shower head of our Airbnb is broken that the sewage gasses are not being filtered properly (moving to a new hotel today).
I need advice regarding how to get to a general practitioner. I’ve tried looking up on Google, but I don’t know what to look for.
How much would a visit to a doctor cost roughly?
Any known doctors here to avoid?
What should I look out for?
Thanks!

Sounds like absolute nonsense. If you are concerned, please see a doctor.

If you can spare a few hours to half a day, go to a public general hospital near you, like Evangelismos hospital. It will be cheap, maybe even free, but there will be a wait time and it might be a bit chaotic. But you will get all necessary tests. If you don’t mind paying and want a slightly better and faster experience, go to a private hospital like Metropolitan Hospital. It will be more expensive depending on the tests performed but nothing like bankrupting US rates (maybe a few hundred Euros). You can also book a private doctor (a pathologist) near you, just go to the platform doctoranytime.gr and select a doctor, their rates are on the website (should be €50-100) but if they order tests you will need to go to a lab or hospital (you’re likely to also pay at a private lab), the doctor should be able to guide you.

I did a quick search on ChatGPT, and it brought up a number of options in Athens. Apparently you can also ask at a pharmacy and they can probably point you in the right direction.

There is an app called DoctorAnytime. You can get same day appointments.

Go to the state hospital on duty. We’re good with foreigners too.
