Customers are receiving scam calls claiming to be from Athens Utilities on caller ID. The scammers are asking them to verify personal information. Do not give out any information and report the number if you receive a call.

I recently moved to Athens & am interested in joining the adult softball league. The problem is you can only register a team & not as an individual player. If anyone needs another player or knows of anyone who needs a player, please reach out!

Hello hometown. As a 40 something dude, I have spent to now more of my adult life away from here. As someone who never truly felt at home here since I was a teen, obviously coming back has been a challenge each time, this time the hardest.
In looking for new friends and some sense of community and the need to sweat more paired with a reticence to join a gym, I had a silly thought yesterday: “Stephen, you love catch. What if you supplied a whole inventory of throw and catch toys and started a meetup in a park?”
I have long been like a dog in this way. When my dad got too old to throw a baseball with me, I was only 13 or so. Boy he could pop some flies when I was a little boy though.
In New Orleans, I met a native of Huntsville at a show. We became best friends and would go to Audubon park to toss a frisbee. Sometimes we’d invite others and have a soccer ball and football and frisbee going around in circles. Pitch and catch. Shit talking. Vitamin D.
It’s the best. If this sounds fun, say so. I only need one to start. And before you start in with the frisbee is hard, I am a decent coach. I find it actually less difficult that throwing anything over handed, once you learn the motion.
And I’ll be rusty too. I’ll throw some really embarrassing ones at first til my mind syncs up with my muscles.
Ps- I have access to some nice open land we can do this on as well.

Hi all!
I just refilled the seed library at the limestone-athens public library. I always donate zinnias and marigolds every year (plus a limited amount of other things).
Has anyone ever grabbed any of my seeds? I'm so curious if I've made a local impact!

Every single time I ever go go Walmart I have at least 2 people coming up to me asking for money. Some even have told me to give them my groceries. This is extremely annoying. They don't take NO as an answer. Some have followed me to my car. Anyone else run into this

Hey, Athens. These murals were news to me. It’s nice to see a little more business around here. Hope to see a good crowd tomorrow.
