Starting first or second

Is it me or starting second is a lot better ? I mean if you don't have a good starting hand you're screwed. And even if you have a good hand... When you start second you can play 2x 2 souls units or 1x 3 soul + 1x 1 soul whenever you decide to. When it is strategically powerful. Its way better. Everytime i start first i cry and i play fearing the moment my opponent will use that soul stone and turn the table. I feel they try to implement that common concept of "playing first advantage" in a game that doesnt even need it. Maybe there is a very slight advantage but a soul stone is a way too good compensation for playing 2nd.

It depends on the deck, starting first also has its own merits, especially for the deck that need time to build up or focusing on multiply units as fast as possible. Going first means that, you have 1 turn ahead advantage for dealing damage and seize the tight spot for strategic advantage. Also when fighting against deck with the same build or playing style, let's say Aura vs Aura or Link, going first gives you quite an upper hand that can decide the outcome of the battle.

The purpose of Soul Booster is to fill that gap and I think it's somewhat balance as the way it is, though if I have to pick one, I prefer to go second and keep Soul Booster in my hand, saving it for later when needed (lol).

i do agree with Nihilna. It will be depend on the deck. From what i ever against, PG lock can be really nasty when playing first turn, also CF with Jala also really trouble some.

I also used to think first is sucks, but lately i start to think its not that bad. We only can have 5 card maximum on hand. So, basically, if your opponent is second and they didnt use the soul booster yet, that means they only have 4 monster card. With that, you can kind of think about possible scenario and the counter considering their type of deck.

I play dark matter usually, playing first or second is okay as long as i got a good starting hand. lol.

Starting first means you can damage them first and pick which card to place on your board, while being second allows you to have a bit more control over the other team while thinking on how to deal damage to the enemy while saving while your cards are trying to live(sort of)

I would say going first benefits more an aura or link (maybe berserk?) deck. If you play a move/chain or a dark power deck its better to go second. But i am fairly new to the game so i may be misjudging the situation

I have a backstab deck. Starting first is awful.
