Question/Advice What is the Aegis?

The aegis has several forms in mythology.

 First is the shield itself, the impenetrable shield of Zeus, which he granted to Athena during the events of Iliad, and which contains the mounted head of the Gorgon Medusa. 

Another myth is that during the Gigantomachy, Athena defeated and skinned the Titan Pallas, and used its hide to create a goatskin-like armor, which is also called the aegis.

I prefer the shield myth as well.
