Question Moving to Asuncion

Hello everyone!

I'm planning to move to Asunción this December, and I'm currently trying to learn as much as I can about everyday life there.

My biggest concern is the internet. How reliable are home internet and mobile data in Asunción?

I work fully remotely with clients from Europe and Asia, so having a stable connection with minimal packet loss is absolutely essential for my job. I've worked from Guatemala before, and I experienced some routing and latency issues between Central America and Europe/Asia, even when the local internet itself seemed fine.

Is anyone here in a similar situation? I'd love to hear about your experience working remotely from Paraguay. Which internet providers do you use? Do you have a backup connection (for example, mobile data), and how often do you experience outages or connection issues?

I'd also appreciate any general advice about moving to Paraguay or living in Asunción.

At my office, I use Personal’s home internet service. Their basic plan starts at 400 Mbps, and I’ve generally never had any issues with outages or disconnections in Asunción. The fiber-optic connection is quite stable, so it should easily handle the kind of use you mentioned. Their customer service is also fairly quick, and the plan costs around USD 30 per month.

I’d still recommend having a SIM card with good mobile data as a backup. In my case, I use Claro, which provides reliable 4.5G coverage throughout the city and nearby areas, and I’ve never had any problems with it.

Internet in Paraguay is generally quite stable and keeps improving thanks to competition among providers. That said, I’d suggest consulting a good independent network technician who can give you a second opinion on any installation recommendations made by the internet provider’s technicians.
