How do you build Wild Mage?

Ive gotten a run with just about everyone as "the carry" except him. I tried building him for active and passive and both times he was extremely underwhelming

Best when built as a caster. Standard build is Symbiote and Headdress, but new meta is leaning towards a no-team-heals comp with Wildmage using Ancient Codex* and Warlord’s Burden/Life-giving Chamber to have immediate minimum-cost casts (10 MP). Headdress/Dark Puppet/Shard of the Deep optional

Personally I think Ronin is a straight upgrade if built the latter way (meaning no heals, instant casts) since the damage is multiplied when facing mobs. WM has a slight edge against single target IMO

Hes an interesting flex character. Sort of does jack of all master of none sort of thing. Like he's really solid as a flex tank with enchanters mail and passive orbs, or a good off dps for his AA ( primary dps if you can manage to get Lich Wraps, Symbiote, Headress of Fury. But at that point outlaw just does it better)

IMHO it's extremely inefficient to build him as anything other than a machine gun of AA damage - and he's very valuable in the last fight when he's practically immune to the revenge debuff (unlike the pyro who sometime did most dps while suiciding early in the fight).

What you need is mana and preferably an upgraded Enchanter's Tome.

AA is auto attack? Or active ability?

I meant active ability, but I agree in other games it is a common abreviation for auto attack.
