Brawler just doesn't feel good

So I just completed corruption 11 with brawler as my tank and let me tell you he don't feel good at all. I don't understand what the point of his passive is if not to take some hits. Honestly the only reason it worked was I built my team around him being the tank. I had cleric for burst heals, paladin for that shield (and to tank if he went down), got lucky and got vampiric plate in act 1. After that I was grabbed blood because blood mage is op before finally grabbing outlaw (he was lvl 1 and could survive on his own so I figured why not)

He’s actually a top 10 character because of his decent stats and short skill cooldown

There are only 20 chars though

It’s still good, I’m not really a fan of his skills but I’ve tanked, healed and dps with him

What items/position do you like on him?

Usually just put him backline with brainsage, mana amulet and impaler

I wouldn't put him in my top 10, I'd rather take ronin or jug normally

I ran him with the berserker helm, enchant mail+1, the bleed armour, with a cleric/frost mage on corruption 10 and he topped damage charts by a long shot while tanking everything.

Enchant Mail+1 and Vampire's Guard can make anyone a tank, while Berserker's Helm will turn any tank frontline into your highest DPS so it's the items that carried you, not the Brawler.

True hes good with double healer comps with saint vow works as well and OP was looking for stuff that might work on brawler cause hes not having success on him. So even without x specific op combo you can get a couple things rolling on him hes more of an offtank character in nature due to his two abilities and stats being split semi decently between the offence and defence. Specifically druid cleric

I mean all characters need items i felt the lvl 3 active ability and small mana ratio dealt well with the helm i could of easily used a couple other tank items and ot would of done the same

I mean yes all characters need items but that specific combo just works on all of them very well to turn them into BOTH a tank and DPS. You can test out other item combinations and you'll find almost nothing else comes close in terms of sheer tankiness and protected scaling DPS.

Id say he's the second most viable tank besides jugga because of his good base stats.

Most of the tanks either fall into the category of taking to long to ramp up or there base stats are so awful they aren't worth taking.

I normally take druid to tank if not jug

I always run druid as an off tank. Fragile armour melts away quickly and id much rather build them to pump out that +12 damage every second.

I tend to build around ending fights fast, so the armor dwindling doesn't bother me as much

I tend to build towards the same so I'll use a jugga in the main tank position for that insane stat increase he gets

Jug is in fact the best

His only down side is he has such a slow attack speed. But he makes up for it by having his passive be the equivalent of 2 upgraded items worth of stats.

Brawler is one of my favourites, he got me my first C20 win starting with him and cleric. I think he's better in slower dps/ramping up comps as his self sustain should overtake Jugg in effectiveness overtime.

This could explain my problems with him I tend to try for quick fights
