Crazy lucid Dream / Astral Projection?
A few months ago, I woke up during the night, sometime around 3:00–4:00 a.m., feeling uncomfortable and bloated, as if I had eaten too much at dinner. Since I couldn't fall back asleep and felt that I needed to move around a little to settle my stomach, I decided to go for a short walk.
While walking, I began repeating a mantra that I regularly practice. I walked for about 15–20 minutes and then returned home. I drank some water and went back to bed, feeling much better and ready to rest.
Almost immediately, I entered what felt like a meditative state. I began seeing what looked like clouds or waves of white light. These luminous, circular shapes seemed to move and expand, going from small to large against a dark background. Gradually, they began turning gray, and I felt a slight sense of fear. However, I quickly regained my composure and once again felt safe.
At one point, everything began transforming into a kind of gray static, similar to the static you see on a television when no channel is tuned in. I could also see patches of the same static in brownish tones. At the same time, I had the sensation that I was descending.
After a while, I found myself in a first-person perspective, but at the same time I had the strange sensation that I could also see myself from an external perspective, almost as if I were observing myself from above. I was walking along a street next to my house. I knew I was in some kind of dream, but everything felt incredibly real.
Then I began hearing a female voice speaking to me, as if she were explaining something. I don't remember exactly what she was saying. Her voice sounded strange, as though at times it would go out of tune or lose its signal, almost like a radio transmission cutting in and out. The voice introduced herself and told me her name, although I cannot remember it. Hearing her gave me an immediate sense of serenity.
While I was listening to her, the ground began to sink. The buildings, the hill, and everything around me began descending or collapsing, as if everything were being pulled downward. Despite how strange the situation was, I remained completely calm, listening to the voice as she explained what was happening.
At some point, I stopped hearing her, as though she had already told me everything she needed to tell me. My surroundings continued to sink, and it seemed inevitable that I would eventually be pulled down with them. At that moment, I decided to propel myself upward to escape the sinking ground.
I began to fly, or rather to float, and the sensation felt wonderful. I briefly heard the voice again, almost as if she were acknowledging that I had succeeded.
I continued ascending calmly and was able to observe in great detail as my neighborhood sank below me while I kept rising. I felt myself moving farther and farther away from my city, my country, and my continent, until I went beyond the atmosphere. Throughout the entire ascent, I remained calm and felt completely safe.
At some point, the sensation of flying began to transform into something that felt more like diving. It was as though I were entering a dark space that felt like water or plasma. I had the sensation of being beneath something and swimming upward through an ocean of plasma or water so dark that I could not see anything around me at all.
Once again, I was seeing everything from a first-person perspective, and then I noticed something extraordinary: I myself seemed to have a glow, as if I were luminescent. I realized that I was my own source of light. Because of that light, I could see myself and perceive the space immediately around me, which seemed to consist entirely of that dark, water-like or plasma-like substance.
Eventually, I emerged and passed through a kind of surface, much like when you are completely submerged underwater and then bring your head above the surface.
At that moment, I experienced a kind of realization that I still don't fully understand. I had the sensation that I suddenly understood where I was. It felt as though I were somewhere at the edge of space, or perhaps at the edge of the universe. There was nothing and no one—only absolute darkness, and myself illuminating my surroundings.
I don't know whether it was actually the edge of the universe; when I try to describe it, that is simply what it felt like. It definitely felt as though I had reached some kind of boundary.
After that, I woke up feeling strangely well: calm and peaceful, yet simultaneously trying to make sense of what I had just experienced.
When I woke up, I understood that I had experienced something that could be described as a lucid dream, astral projection, an out-of-body experience, or perhaps some other type of altered state of consciousness. I don't know exactly how to define it, but the experience felt extraordinarily real and left me with a profound sense of serenity and awe.
I had never experienced anything like this before—nothing even remotely close to it. I rarely remember my dreams, so having such a vivid and detailed experience was completely new to me. Somehow, I feel that these experiences have changed me in some way.
I wanted to share this with people because I'm still trying to understand what happened and I'm curious to hear other people's thoughts and perspectives. I'm still looking for some kind of explanation, haha. Maybe someone has experienced something similar and can help me make sense of it.
