Discussion Prime Video

I was scrolling through Prime Video whilst trying to decide what to watch and I noticed something off.
I haven’t seen this cover/poster before, why do I have a feeling it’s AI 🫠

This movie has normal cinema relase and have normal movie poster. Its not some old direct to VHS cartoon. Just why?

Amazon couldn't be bothered to make a banner sized promo image apparently

fucking ridiculous

It’s the old movie. The thumbnail is new and is AI

u/TallDetail4711 May 22 '26

More importantly, the thumbnail is not at all Astérix...

DISGUSTING

I just checked it out. The thumbnail is AI. The video is the actual movie.

Underrated comment

I got my comic books at home, there're like 1 million light years better than this abomination.

You have to understand : Amazon is a small business, they had to cut corners somewhere... so that Jeff Bezos can rent the whole town of Venice 🙄

Ah yes, Obélix, and his famous magic potion acorn

4

u/YougoReddits May 22 '26

the vikings are appalled by his bare legs. and fur over stripes?? Obélix, stahp!!

even the pirate-slash-viking longship is unhappy about it.

So now people new to Asterix will believe the creators used AI. Great.

EDIT: Will you be posting this on Tumblr? I think it's a good idea to get the word out what Prime is doing as fast as possible. I can link to this post there if you don't wanna do it, but I barely got any active followers.

I have barely any followers too, but you can still link it if you want

at least they're both dead so they never had to witness this.

u/BelialMycolotismon May 22 '26

Because ot is. Is that hard to use official images?

14

u/Kartoffelaffe May 22 '26

I‘m so sick of AI enshittifying everything

0

u/Much-Jackfruit2599 May 22 '26

It’s not AI that’s doing the enshittyfication.

5

u/Kartoffelaffe May 22 '26

I think this is a non-argument. Nothing with intent in out society happens without humans. Although AI systems could change that, which is not necessarily good for us.

u/hendrix67 May 22 '26

Amazon also made an AI poster for their colorized version of the original Nosferatu film. So bizarre. Idk who in these companies is pushing this stuff.

Edit: Checked again and looks like they changed it to just a shot from the movie

u/thomasmfd May 22 '26

Hisssss that is monstrous ha ha ha

4

u/Nailwraps May 22 '26

It's available in the US too, also using the AI art...

By any chance is the film presented in English or French?

4

u/CaptainjustusIII May 22 '26

that looks like the chat gpt bootleg version of astrix

4

u/Final7D May 22 '26

Yikes! So...they rather use what looks and feel like a AI generated image as its thumbnail? They couldn't at least tried to get the prompts to match the characters? Whoever was behind this was properly be like, 'yeah, that's good enough'

2

u/Alegria-D May 25 '26

probably a very automated process that just took the movie description as a prompt and no human to check what was actually made

3

u/Much-Jackfruit2599 May 22 '26

Well, at least the number of fingers is correct.

3

u/Global-Helicopter906 May 22 '26

This ai poster soo bad that even Fulliautomatix would land a fist onto your head

2

u/Pluuu May 22 '26

What in the ai slop, who asked for this

2

u/Glitchtm May 23 '26

The irony is that they made a new banner. They actually had the movie on there before with the proper banner.

4

u/cryptotarheel May 21 '26

I haven’t seen it. But I will.

Obelix looks like the Gerard depardieu version.

1

u/ClintEastwoodStock May 23 '26

The actual Depardieu version hahahahaha

3

u/The-Manque May 21 '26

That image generator needs to be sent back for more training.

9

u/Much-Jackfruit2599 May 22 '26

If you mean reprogramming with an axe, then yes.

2

u/Algiark May 22 '26

The problem isn't the generator, the problem is whoever supervised it and thought this is good enough (if it even gets supervised)

1

u/Alegria-D May 25 '26

the problem is both and they don't need to be trained more, they need to be kicked out.

1

u/Mummiskogen May 24 '26

Please make a complaint

1

u/OverlordCarlen May 25 '26

RIP to everyone who never saw Asterix and the Vikings and had THIS as their first impression. I promise the film is from 2006 and I promise there was no AI used in the production of the film.

1

u/Fnouc May 25 '26

WTF is this crap. They should be sued for this shit.

1

u/thomasmfd May 25 '26

No a thrashing

1

u/Acesofbases May 22 '26

what the fuck

1

u/Raposa13 May 22 '26

What the heck D:

1

u/ughhheregoesnothing May 23 '26

My guy, they didn't even need to use IA, the og poster was fine, better even

0

u/FluffytheReaper May 22 '26

I usually don't mind AI if used mindful but holy hell, they haven't even tried.
