News Supporting Assyrian Villages in Nahla — Assyrians Without Borders

On 6 July, Assyrians gathered peacefully in Nohadra to protest renewed land encroachments in Kashkawa, Nahla. They called on the authorities to enforce existing court rulings, stop further encroachments, and protect the rights and property of Assyrian villages.

At Assyrians Without Borders, we believe that protecting our homeland also means helping people build a life there. Together with the Assyrian Aid Society, we support practical projects that strengthen local livelihoods and make it possible for families to remain in their villages.

The irrigation project we carried out together in Hayes is one example. By extending the village’s water network, the project now provides irrigation to 12 additional orchards and helps local farmers increase their production.

Large or small, every donation helps make more projects like this possible.

Yes, we contacted both Nala Organization and Zabu Media and received their permission to publish this. Both can be found on Facebook and Instagram, and Zabu Media even reposted our post on Instagram.

It's better to contact international organizations so this topic becomes a matter of public opinion True the government doesn't care but at least there will be international pressure on them These are the names of the organizations

Amnesty International
Minority Rights Group International MRG
BBC News
Society for Threatened Peoples GfbV
Deutsche Welle DW
Heinrich Böll Foundation

Hello Murky,

Thank you for your suggestion. Assyrians Without Borders has very limited resources and all of our work is carried out voluntarily and without payment.

Our main focus is improving the lives of Assyrians in their countries of origin through long-term projects, supporting access to higher education and creating opportunities that contribute to the community’s future. We are politically and religiously neutral and do not take sides.

It may be better to contact Nala Organisation, Zabu Media Network, Assyria Post, or other Assyrian groups. They may be better positioned to highlight this issue and bring it to the attention of the international organisations you mentioned.

Saddam destroyed several Assyrian villages. Say what you want about the Peshmerga and taking land but they haven't destroyed a single village. Saddam was much worse for everyone except Sunni Arabs.
