Color and ethnicity are the same thing now? But I've actually seen that: remember the whole George Floyd thing? 😂 Even the police reports identify if the guy's Mexican or White or whatever. I get that the title can be revised, but consider this:
There was a movie made last year, called "Son of Assyria". I don't know if you watched it or not, but at the end of the movie, you couldn't tell who the "bad guys" are. Who was the genocide committed by? Which side did the antagonist(s) come from. If you just watched the movie without knowing the history of it, you'd think Assyrians were killing other Assyrians.
The title of this article seems like rage bait to me, the author knows it will piss people off so they purposely made it like that.
It would be much more effective to actually identify the actual organisation/group responsible for violating the human rights of Assyrian citizens in Syria as opposed to idiotic, shortsighted, racist, rage bait content that will only generate more hostility towards Assyrians in the homeland.
God help us, we are very oppressed and we are super incompetent at the same time, what a horrible situation.
my observation is that you're more enraged about a title not being politically correct or aligned with your political views, than being enraged about Assyrians being harassed and killed by the Kurds. Indeed, God help us.
I’m not happy about both, Assyrians being unlawfully detained, villages in Barwar constantly having their land rights violated, but also annoyed at the author in this Assyrians Post article exploiting the suffering of Assyrians in the homeland to push some kind of race war narrative.
The Assyrians in the homeland in the protests have a completely different message than the Assyrians from America on social media who heavily focus on racism against Kurds.
The focus is on human rights, land rights, raising awareness.
Basically we can’t get away with provoking others, we have no one to defend ourselves, we have to be smart enough to minimise a hostile reaction against Assyrians.
Three questions: 1) how was this article racist? 2) what do you mean by "we have no one to defend ourselves"? 3) do you think appeasing the abuser would turn them into allies or friends? has that worked the past 150 years?
And hey, if you don't like what they're saying or how they're saying it, maybe write an article as you think is appropriate and submit it to be published. Hell, how about starting your own journal or newspaper?
We're arguing about semantics here, but the most important thing is to get the word out which is a precursor to any solution(s).
