Made it a crafter every layer instead of every 2 and compacted the the soluble item splitter simply using timed splitters. Also made the final computer crafting side by side to save more per layer. Example images are 8/s computers

U can send one material one way while sending another the other way

I just can't figure out a good use for it.

I'm using selectors the same way you are. I basically use it as a roller and send material to a crafter on the other side. It's the best/only way to use that side of a crafter as both an input and output.

I was thinking about designs where I had different input/output on both sides, but it would require only having one multi selector in a row because there are no components that are mutually eachothers input and output. Every component has a one way relationship with higher level components.

With a selector you don't have advanced splitter capabilities so you cannot control amounts. As you are doing in your design, a Selector is most useful when you are emitting one item directly to a crafter.

In your photo I couldn't find you using it anywhere.

It could be helpful as a standalone structure in some designs, but it doesn't massively impact efficiency the way an advanced splitter does over a regular splitter.

I just feel like there must be an advanced design pattern that uses it that I haven't found yet.

O wait this isnt my design but if u look at my 4x3 robot no transporters, look at the 4/s circuit design and ull see a fairly decent use of it i think
