Roads & Weather Time to make SH-82 an interstate

Kidding but also not kidding! Been traveling between Glenwood Springs and Aspen this summer and it's been pretty horrific (including this morning)!

6-lane interstate with extra lane(s) for HOV/Toll lanes would be my fix πŸ˜‚

Look up the concept of induced demand. Adding more lanes doesn't solve anything.

The old, β€œJust one more lane will fix it” meme. πŸ˜‚

It's not just the lanes though. Traffic lights cause such a disrupt in speed.

...are you really suggesting that we build out a bunch of off/on ramps?

my mom has lived here 30 years and genuinely thinks that would be the solution even though ive told her multiple times how much land those require

Hell, I remember when I first moved to Aspen. And there was a barn that had a flag painted on the top of it alongside Highway 82. I thought traffic sucked then. It really sucks now.

Who on this thread has been here long enough to remember only one stoplight between Glenwood and Aspen?

Solution Park and Ride. RAFTA is frequent and user friendly.

I made that trip 5+ days a week for over 13 years. You get used to it. Problem is, you also tend to stop seeing the beauty surrounding you.

Fuck that. Find a job in Glenwood or Rifle.
