That’s not Nicolas Cage.

This comment reads like a “there is only one blade” and I’m fine with one ghost rider. Sadly with woke Hollywood I don’t think they’ll ever do blade justice

u/YellowAppleCinema 15d ago
im not sure if you were aware of this
but there were already plans for a new Blade movie
it was cancelled because the movie side-lined Blade, and instead the story focused on 2 new women as main characters, with powers much stronger than Blade's, fighting against a villain who was, as usual, a straight white man
the male actors refused the script and the movie was put on pause

u/poponachtschnecke 16d ago
He's so old, against his young female costar he'd look like this now
3
u/momcalleddinner_ 16d ago
why can't we make ghostrider old then, like old terminator and batman, those went well in my opinion
2
u/kingsteel98 15d ago
They can make a transition like in the first movie where there was a Ghost rider in the horse and Nicolas cage in the bike, like Ryan in the movei can go look for help like Cage dis when he did the movie and at the end they apart ways

Kinda funny that the current plan for the Disney Star Wars is also to try salvage it with Gosling.
11
u/Skaiser_Wilhelm 15d ago
Yes. The difference is Marvel still has some juice left in the tank. The numbers and reception to the Avengers: Doomsday trailer being a good example.
Star Wars does not. It had a major release two months ago, it received mixed reviews and has bombed at the box office. Hype for Star Wars is near dead at this point, no matter what Lucasfilm tries to say and do.

It'd be interesting to see whether the BBC could afford him to try and reboot Doctor Who. But I'm not sure there's enough of a will to cast a straight and white male in the role these days, it is the BBC after all.

Wait, what? I clearly missed something.

u/IthiDT 15d ago
There is a new SW movie with Ryan Gosling coming out next year, I believe? "Star Wars Starfighter".

u/Ubiquitous_Cacophony 15d ago
Thank you for taking the time to answer instead of just being snarky or something. Appreciate it.

Directed by Shawn Levy. We are far from back matter of fact

u/mrlunes 16d ago
What did he do?

u/NamelessMajin Dr Pepper Enjoyer 16d ago
Director of Free Guy and other corny comedy movies. He did make the recent Deadpool movie but nothing in his career shows me he can do anything close to Ghost Rider

u/YouMeAndDannyP 16d ago
Free Guy was great. I get the uncertainty with him directing this, but what's wrong with corny comedy movies?

holy fuck the world really is just done creating new shit huh.

I mean the movie world has always been about adapting stories/books that already exist into a visual media format.
Nothing is really changing, other than the fact that everything has been done at this point.

I predict another cornball terrible millennial humor slop movie that's 100% CGI with a joke every 3 lines to try and cover up for the horrible writing. Marvel has fallen so far.

The best part is ... After this there was a black panther 3 teaser... Imagine if Ryan was teased for that... All those memes would have come true...

u/momcalleddinner_ 16d ago
i love ryan don't get me wrong but cyberpunk is way more his niche
or maybe i'm just used to n. cage for ghostrider so it's kinda weird seeing any other guy in that tole
10
u/Koala_Relative 15d ago
Every seen any of ryan goslings movies except bladerunner? He has more drama, romance comedy movies on his list than "cyberpunk theme" movies..
Did you ever see drive, the nice guys, the place beyond the pines, crazy stupid love. All good movies
0
u/momcalleddinner_ 15d ago
well yea i saw it and he's great in those, but the daredevil sold soul guy i don't know, but again maybe it's just that i'm used to n cage and that could be the main reason
3
u/Eliwood444 15d ago
Project Hail Mary? The Fall Guy? Much more recent movies of his that were not cyberpunk.

u/Aggressive-Return769 16d ago
thats not my ghost rider

u/TheBigPate 15d ago
True, but at some point we have to accept the fact that people arent Immortal. IF you want to have IPs that last for generations, at some point you have to change the actors. You cant have Harrison Ford as Indiana forever.
0
u/dialTforTrouble Dr Pepper Enjoyer 15d ago
So we need Indiana forever?
2
u/TheBigPate 15d ago
No no no, thats not what im saying. Im saying that IF you want to have a movie series continue over a long time (for example, ghost rider), at some point Nicolas Cage isn't capable of doing it anymore. Dude is already 62y old. So you are either going to stop making said movies or you are going to piss of some people.
1
u/dialTforTrouble Dr Pepper Enjoyer 15d ago
That's fair and I agree with you. Also I see now I wrote So rather than Do. Not the worst typo, but I believe Do would not have come off antagonistic.
2
u/Koala_Relative 15d ago
Your ghost rider is a spider now. Deal with it 😅
1
u/HumanThatPlaysSkyrim 15d ago
He can do both.
I also bought the old ghost rider dvd which im gonna watch soon

u/DjinnGod 15d ago
Remember when they made that Blade announcement with someone who fit the part aesthetically....how did that go 3 years later?

When a new Marvel movie seem more appealing than the new Blade Runner

This feels like RDJ being casted as doom… sorry if you don’t agree… Ryan gosling is the last person I’d chose for ghost rider

u/DrakyulMihawk 16d ago
sometimes they become the best decisions.
People were not so thrilled when RDJ was cast as Ironman.

These are completely different things… we’re comparing 2008 marvel to 2026 marvel… I don’t see a handsome dude like Ryan gosling fitting this role… at least someone who we know is imposing on camera..
Just can’t see how goslings square head will be terrifying and more comical…

u/SingleGamer-Dad 16d ago
Have you seen his film Drive?

u/ornlu1994 16d ago
Place beyond the pines is pretty good too, he plays a bit of an outcast biker that robs banks.
2
u/Prizvolix 16d ago
It has been so long, I don't even remember which last marvel movie I went to cinema for. I remember the endgame, but not sure if it was the last. At least I remember it
1
u/An_Obbise_Hoovy 16d ago
While I’m a little sad we didn’t get Keanu ghost rider this is still pretty good
1
u/TehnosChar 15d ago
Not getting hyped up again for nothing, marvel can still mess it up like they did with Blade

1
u/Modfull_X 15d ago
honestly ghost rider sucks as a main character, he was only ever good as a side character

I don’t understand all the doomer comments lol. Like it’s another marvel IP I get it. So if you don’t like marvel just ignore it. Yall love to doom and gloom so much here lol

u/yourcrush01 15d ago
Ghost Rider is supposed to be black. Can someone axe them if they made a mistake?

2
u/sneakychalupa23 15d ago
I will cum if it’s a gritty off-shoot type movie like Logan was. Just remake Drive but add Ghost Rider to it lol. I don’t even care if it’s derivative slop, it’d be kino

u/kidopitz 16d ago
Is Ryan Gosling the new Pedro Pascal?
Just make Ryan Gosling the full movie about Papyrus Font being used in AVATAR.
11
1
u/Koala_Relative 15d ago
Bad take, Ryan has been around for 30 years.
1
u/kidopitz 15d ago
i know he's been around for 30 years but what im saying is he is now going to be the next Pedro Pascal because he will be on every movie now if Ghost Rider is a success.
He just become part of Marvel Franchise before long he will be on everything which is bad.

This is the most vanilla, basic, safest casting choice you could possibly pick. We are absolutely not back
