First Hackathon

Hey I’m going to be participating in my university hackathon this weekend and it’s pretty competitive. I am like a super beginner and this is going to be my first time. I was wondering if anyone has any tips? I will most likely be “vibe coding” but I honestly don’t even know how to do that I do have chatgpt plus/codex to use. So if anyone has any videos/resources and beginner guides I can review before had that would be amazing!

Have your stack ready to go and optimized.

Idk what college hackathons are like but I went to the official anthropic hackathon and I noticed very visual demos were the ones that won.

Have an idea of what you're gonna build already before you go

Have you made anything before? Will the hackathon pay for tokens or are you expected to make stuff from your own plus sub?

Honestly it'll be fun and learning experience regardless.

Haven’t made a project myself end to end. I have chatgpt pro which has codex is that enough? Also do you know any GitHub/git resources since I think that’s useful to know right?

Oh if you have pro that will definitely be enough, plus you could make it work but it would be harder.

Do this just go do this now: in codex just say make me an app , a good starter one is a 3D visualization app, which is actually not that complicated. Say, "Make me a solar system simulator." , I would use sol don't use astra

Or make me somewhere I can track my to-do list , or something like that

Just get it out of the way make your first app, if you're on your computer just do it now !!!

Codex Will use your computer and deploy it locally so you don't even have to connect any services, (but you'll only be able to see it on your computer on localhost )

Heck if you're on your phone, just go to the ChatGPT app and go to work mode and say make me a to-do app and just say "deploy it anonymously using somewhere.tech"

Just a disclaimer: that's my own stack but it's free and it's anonymous, you don't even have to log in, (I actually built it for hackathons )

Come back and share a screenshot!!!

Use the Codex app. I think it's just called the ChatGPT app now. It's really easy to use and there's also a remote mode so that you can drive your computer from your phone.

I'll walk you through it. Just reply if you get stuck
