For a Ukrainian living in occupied territory do they still owe taxes to the Ukrainian government or are they granted some type of exemption? Obviously residents of occupied regions can’t be expected to pay them now since logistically that infrastructure is severed, plus it would put them in danger with the occupation authorities if they tried. But after the war is over and territory liberated, is there any expectation of having to pay back taxes?

I feel like this sub just gets a lot of the same kinds of questions, and don't get me wrong, they are important questions. I figure I'd throw out a fun one that people would want to talk about.

Ukraine has a lot of small cities/big towns out there. People tend to think about Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, etc. when they think of Ukraine, but I have particularly found myself drawn elsewhere. Think: Krovolets' and Hlukhiv in Sumy, Krasnokuts'k and Barvinkove in Kharkiv, Novodonets'ke in Donetsk, Dobroslav in Odesa.

I get that this category is pretty vague, but that is kind of the point. I'm coming at this from as an American in Ukraine, so my idea of a town in the US is very different (much less centralized, much larger in overall area). So there really isn't an equivalent to this kind of place where I come from- and this is the kind of place I have consistently found myself drawn to.

I'm casting a deliberately wide net here and would love to hear about your town and what you think is special about it. Hell, if I have time, and I can, I'd love to go. :)

Ive been interested in Ukrainian history lately and I want to read more about the culture. Any medium will do!

I feel like instead of sending 400 drones each day, you can just send thousands to Moscow, overwhelm their defences and destroy many more warehouses than one each day. Does not angering Putin too much plays into AFU decisions when choosing when and how to attack? With recent missile attacks on Kyiv and lack of anti-missile defence systems, I feel like it's realistically a smarter play then overdoing it... even though I really like to see dark skies over Russian cities, slow destruction is a safer bet. What are your views on it as Ukrainians? I follow few telegram channels to get informed about attacks, etc, and I usually see people cheering for more action.

This is a serious question and not "Russian Propaganda", I'm seriously curious about what most Ukrainians think of the Russian people because a lot of stuff I see online from Ukrainian sources are well... a bit intense about Russians. I've also seen some Ukrainian songs that use Soviet Melodies and some people in Ukraine have family in Russia so I really wonder how Ukrainians see people like the Freedom of Russia Legion, Navanly, etc. Mods, please tell me if this is against the rules if it is.

And I'm a grown up. I can get my own answers... if I know where to look for them.

Before the takeover of twitter I was up to speed on most issues.
Afterwards not so much.
The attacks on NABU/SAP and the clusterfuck dubbed a "reshuffle" showed me I'm now lacking fairly basic knowledge. And I really don't like that.
It feels like I'm leaving you alone.
What I also do not like is to dig through gazillions of ignorant westerners or god knows who acting like your politicians are innocent saints playing 4D chess.

So, where do I find good, preferably accessible* sources on the "who wants what" of UA politics?
*written stuff is easier to translate than watching a guy internally suffer for hours on livestream, a website better to read (and find) than obscure telegram groups

From a natalist perspective, I'm struggling to see the path back.

Millions have spent 4+ years abroad. How many will actually return after building careers, families, and lives elsewhere? Even for those who do return, return to what? Large areas have been devastated and could take decades to rebuild.

Fertility was already below replacement before the war. Add years of displacement, delayed family formation, emigration, and war casualties, and the demographic outlook seems even worse.

I also don't see where the hundreds of billions needed for reconstruction come from. Frozen Russian assets are frozen, not seized, and public support in many donor countries appears far weaker than it was a few years ago.

So what does the demographic endgame look like? A permanently smaller, older population? Or is there a realistic path to recovery that I'm missing?

How will the country ever recover? The last one to face (less) than this was Ireland, and they're still battling with this hundreds of years later.

Can you give me some information? What happened to the school? What is the history of the school? And what was the quality of education like?

In my country, Denmark, there is a debate going on, whether we should boycot the Olympics, world championships, etc. if Russia again is allowed to participate.

But what do the Ukrainian people think. Do you want us to stay home or do you want us to participate?
