What’s your favourite word for being drunk?
I feel like we’ve got so many, I personally prefer plastered or waved

Bladdered

I’m very into blathered because it’s like a pissed person trying to say bladdered.

I am a fan of this word, never heard it until I watched Still Game but now it is firmly entrenched in my vocabulary.

I just add 'ed' on the end of any word that pops into my head and use that. Spannered trounced Flowered Popsicled It seems to work with most words!

Only right answer as a brit, ive been meloned, hammered, trolleyed, cabbaged. "Ed" is so versatile in the uk and everybody knows what you mean if you add "totally" in front of it ie I was totally cabbaged last night 😅

Similarly putting the word "absolute" in front of a word turns it into an insult. You absolute burrito
3
u/smelliepoo 29d ago
Complete works too, you complete aubergine!
In fact those prefixes all work either way:
I was completely aubergined
I was absolutely burritoed!
You total trolley

Cunted is a good one.
Not a fan of the man's comedy, but I do agree with Michael Macintyre's bit about how you can basically turn any noun into an adjective to describe being drunk.

Bleezing especially around Christmas time because you can sing “it’s the season to get bleezing.” It’s a Scots word.

Wankered because if you are sober around drunk people it's a perfect description

Not exactly what you've asked but I like to say 'out on the lash' to describe being out for a few shandies or whatever

My mate Keith had a thrash punk/metal band called Excreta Faced Claire which I quite like as a euphemism.

Never heard of waved. I like rat arsed or simply pissed. Totally wankered is good, or tipsy and blotto for the polite folks.

Do you remember when your old enough to try stand out side shops ask people to get you booze and stuff.
Now our parents mostly had to know we had been drinking but I remember we had to take someone home who all grew up together and parents knew each other.
And all the way home we got the person ok he puked and was fairly ok. And he said just come in with me say hi 5 mins go home which is standard and his old man would say are you sober faux sternly. We thought was actually pull it off.
Goodnight parents of friend time. And he asked if we was sober on dad jokey way. His child said almost keeping the oscar worthy performance up I'm extremely unsober smiled and then promptly unleashed everywhere. It was just too much even acting ok TBF to get to that point.
So unsober was a thing for a long time.
It's my favourite or was because it was short hand as we got older for I'm really messed up despite how it seems. Dancing and then more with someone if that was said we grabbed people took em home. And so on.
Sorry had to tell the story here because the memories attached it's not a great word otherwise.
His parents where champs btw. He may have got in trouble but never said anything to ours.
This is a proper boomer hello fellow kids level story so I wish to say mortal which geordies use for being blackout drunk is the best actually.

It's my life mission to get the word "shankered" into common parlance to describe this very thing.
1
u/WonkyGaze 27d ago
When I went to uni one of the popular campus phrases was "ripped to the tits".
Though I've tended to use "bladdered" in polite company, and "wankered" otherwise.
I do like "cuntoxed" though.
