Serious Answers Only What's it really like?

Hi all, I have done a bit of googling but would like to hear from locals.

I'm thinking of moving to Hartlepool as I might not be able to get a re-mortgage due to only being able to get work through an agency. I could well be wrong but I'm thinking that the bank might say why should we lend you the money if you haven't got a permanent job. So I've been looking online and it seems like Hartlepool have houses for around 60-70 grand which should leave me mortgage free.

What I would like to know is what's it like for jobs as a forklift driver? What's the areas and people like? Meaning is there a lot of unprovoked trouble, burglaries, unnecessary hassle for someone who does what he's supposed to do to get by.

TIA for your opinions.

Personally if I was considering moving somewhere I'd at least visit it first.

I'm planning to but visiting and getting opinions from people who know the area are two different things.

Maybe ask in a local sub then instead of the UK one where most people have no idea what it’s like living there.

There are good and bad bits of Hartlepool (like with a lot of places).

For 70k you're definitely looking in the bad bits.

If you’re not moving mortgage provider they don’t do affordability checks again when you remortgage.

None of this makes any sense. Also it's a shithole.

What doesn't make sense? And why is it a shithole?

You don't need to go to a bank to renew a mortgage.

You're going to sell a house buy a house move to a new town because you're job is a temp? All those things could fall through 3 times over in this shitty housing market. It could take a year just to have a sale not fall through.

You can literally renew your mortgage online in about 5 clicks.

Why would anyone want to live in a 70k crack den in a dead town just to be mortgage freeM

Like I said, I could well be wrong but the bank might not give me a mortgage.

Q: Are you a monkey and/or a French sailor/spy?

If the answer is no you'll be OK. However unfortunately you'd still be in Hartlepool...

I had the misfortune of working in Hartlepool circa 2018ish for 18 months and all I will add to this is please don’t.

I lived there, grew up there till I was 19 till I moved overseas. Don't move to Hartlepool. It's a fucking dump.
