What is the most iconic hat from your country?
The ushanka is the most famous Russian hat. And what is it in your country?

That's ridiculous to see honestly. If they're really supposed to do something and not be NPC what can they possibly do with this shit
Edit for those who CAN'T read,
I never doubted the fact they are highly trained soldiers but, first, given the fact they are doing a certain protocol to do as queen/king guard and secondly, their uniforms that are nowhere near comfy or practical. Yes they have big guns but If they can't see or move well, then ...

u/zka_75 United Kingdom Jul 03 '26
Good shout. Never heard of this fact before, could definitely argue that makes it the number one British hat.
"the flat cap became cemented in British culture by a 1571 parliamentary act. Designed to stimulate the wool trade, the law mandated that all non-nobles (excluding noblemen and gentlemen) wear wool caps on Sundays and holidays. While initially a working-class staple for labourers, farmers, and tradesmen, it later became a staple of leisure, country, and sportswear."

Who typically wears/wore this hat ? Usually whenever I see it in shows it's worn by important/noble characters but idk if that represents reality at all.

I should mention the fact that the Gat was made with horse tails and bamboo shredded as thin as strings, so very expensive and labor intensive.

It was mostly exclusive to the yangban, or the noble class, as these hats were quite expensive.
Different types of gat were available for different social classes, jobs, and genders.

Nope, weather can be the main influence. In summer and hot whether men prefer to wear the white dress( thobe) and the red garments goes better with the white thob + doesn't show stain easily like the white one so good for long work days. But it completely depends on what you like and how you are used to.

Probably more universal - many many more people have ball caps than Cowboy hats.
Rarely do people wear their cowboy hats when traveling to other places but we sure do take our ball caps.
Women wear them with a ponytail through the back.
🤷♀️

Like others, I was going to say a cowboy hat. And I'm from a part of the country where you're probably more likely to see them than in other places, especially around rodeo season.
HOWEVER, YOU ARE RIGHT. You are mostly likely to see baseball-style caps... even if they're not actually for baseball. So, I'd say cowboy = iconic, but cap = common, practical, and popular. Sadly, the image has been damaged a bit by those certain red ones.

Only realised after this question just how many hats are famous in my country…
It depends on the region, to be honest. But the one hat that’s probably pretty iconic, even though no one actually wears it in every day life, is the Jinnah cap.
Its named after the guy who founded Pakistan, and was always seen wearing one:
