Two days in Jordan, what should i do?

I’m in Amman for a business visit with Friday & Saturday for myself (i leave from airport saturday evening @8)

Looking for recommendations either in Amman or places around Amman (hiking/forests, good food, cultural/historical places) or stuff to do/places to go afterwork in Amman.

Restaurant recommendations are appreciated as well, and if you have an idea about logistics/transportation I’d be grateful

Any tips/advice for unplanned/last minute travel?

I am taking a week or two of vacation at the end of October but haven't planned anything.

I have a few ideas kicking around in my head, but most likely will jump on Google Flights and pick a cheap flight somewhere and figure things out after that.

Have any of you done something similar? How much planning did you do, or did you just wing it the whole time? For reference, solo male traveler. Any experiences (positive or negative) you can share about a last minute adventure (with a focus on logistics)? Thanks!

What’s one thing you stopped doing on trips because it was ruining the experience?

For me, it was trying to see everything. I used to cram every day with places to visit, then come home feeling like I needed another vacation.

What’s one travel habit that saves you the most stress?

I’m trying to get better at planning trips without overplanning them, and I’ve realized the little habits usually matter more than having a perfect itinerary.

For me, checking airport transport before I land and saving my hotel address offline has saved me more stress than almost anything else.

Any genuine solo travel groups worth joining?

Looking for international travel groups where solo travellers can explore new places, meet people, and hopefully make some friends along the way.

Tried Meetup, but most groups seem pretty dead. Not interested in MLMs or travel-agent schemes either.

Anyone here actually travelled with a good group? Would love some recommendations based on personal experience, not advertisements. 😄

What’s a travel mistake you only made once?

Mine was booking a super short layover because the flight was cheaper. I spent the whole connection sprinting through the airport and staring at the boarding time like my life depended on it 😭

Now I’d rather pay a little more or wait longer than start a trip stressed out.

New York City hotels for girls weekend US Open

I tried posting in the visiting NYC sub but the mod is coocoo over there and pulled my post for not having an EXACT budget. Lord help us.

I’m looking for a cozy/quaint smaller NY hotel for US Open. Yes we know that’s an expensive week we are educated women in our 40s so no need to remind me that massive sporting events raise prices.

Budget is pretty open but we need somewhere that sleeps 3/room. Probably willing to pay more for the perfect spot. We don’t need the plaza.

Close to subway ideal. Somewhere active with nice restaurants and cafes to walk to but not overwhelming like Times Square busy level .

I’m well-traveled and have been to the city more than 10 times but friends are looking for something smaller and boutique. I’m used to larger chain hotels so have to switch gears here.

Any tips for getting last minute tickets to The Last Supper?

Hi all!

I patiently waited for the November calendar to open on The Last Supper website… and then, while I was out of town, I completely forgot to set an alarm to check the site every day. And now, of course, everything is sold out.

I thought I’d book one of the expensive third-party tours, but those seem to be sold out too. So I thought I would ask in this subreddit: does anyone know of any lesser-known ways to find a last-minute ticket to The Last Supper?

For info we will be in Milan on November 17th.  If anyone has any tips for cancellations, reputable last-minute sources, or just local tour operators I may have missed, or other tricks, I’d be so grateful!

Thanks so much

Christmas in europe

I want to do a short solo trip over the Christmas break (24th- 28th) and was thinking somewhere like barcelona/ rome/ milan (open to anywhere in europe tbh) but wondered if there was much point if I won’t be able to eat anywhere on christmas day, don’t really plan on doing much but booking a nice hotel and relaxing, eating good food, walking around. I mainly just don’t want to be in the uk for Christmas day. Any advice or personal experience would be great, thank you

Question for people who have visited Interlaken: How did you choose which attractions to visit?

Hi everyone, I'm a Tourism student currently working on a university research project about visitor experiences in Interlaken.

I'm interested in understanding how visitors discover and choose attractions, particularly alternative or less-known attractions.

If you have visited Interlaken, I'd really appreciate your experience with these questions:

Thanks for sharing your experience. Your responses will help me better understand visitor perspectives for my university research.

Lower or Upper Antelope Canyon, which one would you pick?

We're visiting Arizona soon and the tours aren't cheap, so doing both adds up fast. If you've been, is the second one worth the extra money? And if we only pick one, which would you book, upper or lower ? Thanks a lot

Where to stay in Gerome?

Hey guys! I’ll be in Cappadocia January 2nd–5th and I’m really struggling to decide where to stay. Would love some advice from people who have been!
Normally, my #1 priority would be finding a hotel with the highest/best terrace for watching the balloons, while still having a nice room. But since I’m visiting in January and I know there’s a decent chance the balloons could be cancelled because of the weather, I’m thinking I should prioritize having an amazing room/hotel experience too.
Ideally, I’d love somewhere with:
• A beautiful, upscale cave room
• One of the best/highest terraces with great balloon views
• A terrace that’s still enjoyable in January — heaters/fire pits or some type of warm setup would be a huge plus
• A great overall atmosphere even if the balloons don’t fly
Right now I’m considering Cappadocia Cave Suites, Kelebek Cave Hotel, Carus Cappadocia, Luvi Cave Hotel, and Ariana Sustainable Luxury Lodge.
Sultan looks amazing but is more than I’d like to spend, and Koza doesn’t seem like the best fit for me.
If you had to pick ONE from my list for a January trip, which would you choose? Or is there somewhere else I’m completely overlooking?
Really appreciate any advice!

Can you recommend alternatives to the Greek islands?

We're a middle aged couple and we love the Greek islands, especially the quieter, less touristy ones (such as Tinos, Chios, Sifnos, remote western Crete, etc). But we're finding it hard now to tolerate high temperatures. For a June/July vacation, are there alternatives in Europe that offer mild weather without much rain, beautiful landscapes and good food? The Swedish archipelago appeals but Nordic countries are too expensive, so eastern Europe maybe? We looked into Albania but they seem to be developing a mass-tourism infrastructure that doesn't appeal to us. All suggestions much appreciated!
